BECOME AN ANGEL--
For 32 years, Linda Booker has been a SILENT Christmas Angel.
And, her motivation for becoming the organizer of AngelTree in Arizona—was watching the hardships of her own kids. As a young single mom, Linda's own kids went through Christmases without gifts. So, as soon as she overcame the financial obstacles of her situation, she knew in her heart that she needed to help others.
Now—her AngelTree program itself faces its own heart-wrenching issues. Three of her biggest sponsors have been affected by the political climate and have left the program. Bankruptcy, weak financial positions and debates surrounding what constitutes "politically correct" positions during Christmas incited the loss of sponsors.
Yet, Angel Tree has thousands of gifts that need to be purchased for the kids.
For years Linda organized this program covertly-- allowing the incarcerated parents, teachers and other agency workers to "gift" the presents to the kids in their own name. Linda rarely took credit.
But now, that method of gift-giving is hurting her program as sponsors want local and national media coverage that would be impossible for this small group of 150 or so volunteers with no paid employees.
So, please help fill the wish-list of the tens of thousands of Christmas Angel kids this year. You will help light up the faces of children going through tough times.
