On November 19, 2015 at around 4:30 am our father and Downey's tailor was found gasping for air. After attempting CPR and getting a pulse, he was transported to a nearby hospital. He is now in the ICU and is still unknown as to whether he suffered a heart attack, stroke or other condition.

History
At the age of nine in Yucatan, Mexico, Cirilo learned for the first time to make his first men’s dress pants from scratch. Four years later, he left home and began his adventure of being a tailor in Mexico’s capital at the tender age of 13. Immediately, he received recognition for his skills as a skilled tailor. After working for a famed tailor, he decided to create his own path and immigrated to the US in 1972. At 22, he began working for the renowned Mike’s Tailor shop in Downtown LA.
In 1976, he bought Tony’s tailor shop at the corner of Florence and Pacific in the city of Huntington Park, CA. Soon after he decided to use his given name as the business name and in 1979 Tony’s Tailor Shop became Cirilo’s Custom Tailor. In 1980, after marrying Olga, they decided to work together and continue serving the community.

In 1988, the city of Huntington Park bought him out to create what is now El Gallo Giro. He then transitioned to South Gate where Cirilo’s Custom Tailor continued to push forward.

In 1999, Cirilo’s Tailor Shop branched out to two locations (South Gate and Downey). After trying to juggle two locations between himself and his wife Olga, they decided to close the South Gate location to serve the Downey community.
Cirilo’s Tailor shop is now in its 39th year of serving South-East Los Angeles. Cirilo and his wife have served over three generations of Angelenos. He has altered hundreds of bride dresses, saved many special occasions outfits, made custom suits, created the original hem and helped manufacture a popular swim wear in its early stages of development. In 39 years, he was worked every graduation, prom night, senior night, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Years. His family knows that he will not close until every customer is ready for their special day. For that we thank him.
Medical needs
Currently, his wife Olga is running the tailor shop during the day and at night she is by his bedside but they will need some assistance. So his daughters have created this page on his behalf to raise the costs of his medical expenses.

Please help Olga and his daughters, by making a donation to help them pay for his medical expenses and transition during this difficult time. Any contribution is welcome and truly appreciated.
Thank you and please share it with people whom you know.
