Azariah is our Rainbow baby and a gift from God. We have lost three other babies two miscarriages and one preterm baby; my son Nathaniel, who passed in March 7, 2017 at nineteen weeks and three days. This year has been a rough year my son and Katherine's, step son recently had a heart transplant in March he too was born with a rare heart condition that only contained two working chambers basically only half a heart the left side of heart. Thankfully, he received a heart from a donor that has given him a chance to live, cause his heart was only working twenty percent. Fast forward to April, when we found out we were expecting it was the best feeling and news to receive Katherine, was already going to be eight months pregnant and all appeared to be well and looked promising until October 21, 2021 she started experiencing Preclampsa and it worsen. They tried to get it under control, but at the end it just was too high and they had to preform a emergency c-section and our daughter was born October 22, 2021. We knew my daughter would need to stay in the NICU ,but at 6 days old her health just started to go down hill, doctors did an Echocardiogram on her only to discover she was going to need open heart surgery. When we both got the news we just wanted to crawl up in a ball and cry. I knew what I was facing, cause I been through it with my son and now again, but for her it has been so hard. The good news is Azariah, would not need another heart, just an open heart surgery. Doctors informed us that she was born with a congenital heart defect that affects one in every 7,809 infants every year. The prognosis is TAPVR. During, our fourth day stay at the hospital the caseworker called to inform us that there is medication, infusions etc and certain procedures that the insurance will not cover, so we are creating this for our daughter she is on eighteen medications and some of those are not covered. Plus I'm the only source of income at the moment. We were not expecting any of this, all her previous echocardiogram while in the womb and ultrasounds looked promising until tragedy struck. She needs a procedure done so that the heart problem will not keep making her sick with intestinal issues and breathing. We have been transported by jet to Houston too have this procedure done and have to go to and from San Antonio and adjust to making the hospital home and be here for a good while. Everyday is a battle, she was doing so well and suddenly she hit rock bottom. She is now facing a stomach issues that may require surgery, before heart surgery. We are praying that does not happen. Looks like the surgery will be happening sooner then we expected, since her heart is causing other health issues. I have exhausted all my vacation time and Katherine is self employed and had started working again part-time in Social Services/Community Health but that is when she got real sick with the Preclampsa and has not been able to work, because of c-section and Preclampsa and being in the hospital. Thank you, for your time and support it is greatly appreciated. Please keep Azariah, in your prayers. Peace be with you. We have a long road and recovery, We are praying she does well and that she does not need any other procedures done, through this other health issues have arised and it's been very difficult. This has been very difficult fir us we are trying to get ahead and instead there have been many delays. Thank you, so much for your time. God bless you.
