My name is Andi, and I have been a friend of the Altig Family for over 20 years.
A few days ago, the youngest daughter, 30 year old KC (Kimbirlli Camille), passed away unexpectedly. KC had had ovarian cancer as a teenager, but had been in remission for over a decade. Recently, she had not been feeling well, and by the time she got to OHSU in Portland, it was too late for doctors to intervene. The cancer had returned and spread rapidly to her lungs and other parts of her body.
KC had many nieces and nephews, and just about a month ago, became a great-aunt to her sister, Chastity’s new grandson! She was especially involved with her sister, Bethany’s kids and helped Bethany co-parent them when they were younger. KC was also godmother to some of her friends’ kids. KC would move mountains to help out her family or friends in need, like giving her nephew her last $10 so he could go on a school field trip.
KC overcame many obstacles in her life: she dropped out of high school and developed a drug addiction. But with the help of her family, she was able to get clean and earn her GED. If there was something she didn’t understand, she would educate herself. She also loved helping her nieces and nephews with homework.
KC liked going on road trips and had recently obtained her driver’s license and had planned on traveling. She liked singing karaoke, and her taste in music ranged from Eminem to Jason Aldean. KC was a hard worker and was a mentor to many co-workers. She knew the value of hard work, and helped others realize their potential. KC was selfless, and loved those around her with her whole heart.
KC is survived by her parents, Randy Altig and Lori Belgard-Wiley; siblings Bethany (Bryan), Chastity (Michael), Jacob (Becky), and Charles; nieces and nephews Elijah, Amellia, Evan, Michael and Jessica; and great nephew, Jupiter.

KC’s parents are of very modest means and her siblings struggle to support their own families, especially with the currently high cost of living. I offered to set up this GoFundMe campaign to try and help the family out with funeral expenses, unknown as of yet medical bills, and to help the family cover some of their own bills while they took short absences from work. On behalf of the family, we humbly ask and appreciate any monetary donations you can provide, no matter how small, to help with these expenses. Thank you.
