On December 29, 2021 Marta was in a very unfortunate and serious ski accident. She was airlifted to VGH where she currently remains in the ICU. Marta suffered severe fractures in her neck and she has undergone surgery. She is awake and able to communicate. Her team hopes she will maximize use of her arms but it is unlikely she will regain use of her legs. The road ahead is going to be a challenging one, both financially and mentally. She has many months of recovery and the associated costs for this type of injury are large. Marta is one of the most determined people I know and she will get through this, but it’s going to take an army of support. Any little bit helps; lots of positive thoughts for Marta, prayers, monetary donations, and ongoing encouragement throughout her recovery. The support will be so helpful for her, and I know it would mean the world to her. If one of her best-friends were injured in an accident, she would be the one to support and be there for us, so please show Marta some love and share her story so we can support her at this horrific time.
