Ayurvedic School Part 2 - Diseases!

Donation protected

*** Updated with my new dates. Monsoon season wreaked some havoc on Aluva this last season and I was advised to postpone my course until school was back up and running ***

Hello!Thank you so much for reading this. Last year, y’all helped me raise money to attend Ayurvedic school in India.

It was an incredible experience. I was in Aluva, Kerala for three months, learning from a group of Ayurvedic doctors, in a small town on the banks of the river Periyar. I learned how to read a person’s constitution (prakriti), create a diet for that individual based on their nutritional needs, and give instruction on how to keep doshas (the parts that make up an individuals prakriti) balanced.

I learned how to make Ayurvedic medicines - the different forms medicine takes, the herbs and spices that go into making medicine, how to apply  each medicine, and the different therapies that used those medicines.  I learned about Ayurvedic herbs - creating an herb book with my personal findings, detailing information about each herb (growing habits, medicinal properties, parts of plants to use, and how to use them). It was truly an incredible experience.

Since coming home again, I have been able to use the skills that I learned in India to help the community clinic where I work. One of the most poignant experiences from this past six months has been working with a woman who had PCOS. She was about fifty pounds overweight and hadn't menstruated in three years. Over the last six months, we have worked to lose more than 35 lbs (2-3 lbs at a time - changing her diet, and adding exercise to her day) and this past week, she menstruated for the second time!

I love working with all of my clients - watching each one of them blossom on their journey has been incredible and inspiring.

Today, I am planning the second phase of my Ayurvedic education. I will be leaving for India in late January to take the last class in this series. This course is specifically on Disease. We will be looking at the concept of disease, disease management, the importance of diet in disease and then at the Digestive system, Respiratory system, Metabolic disorders, Skin diseases, the Management of Neuro Muscular Diseases, Prenatal care, Postnatal care, and Menstrual issues.

I am really excited to go back and continue this education and work. Learning to work with herbs and spices, with Ayurvedic traditions, has been really rewarding for me.

If you are able to help with a donation , it will be much appreciated! All of the money raised here goes to paying for my class, not flights or accommodation.  If you can’t donate but want to help, please share this with everyone you know.

And if you donate, I’ll happily send you letters from India!

Thank you for your time and energy and for your support. It means so much to share this with you.

Love and light to you.
