My name is Alejandra, and I urgently need your help to bring my husband home.
Three and a half years ago, we fled Colombia after being threatened with death by guerrilla groups. We came to the United States seeking safety and followed every legal step to apply for asylum, with strong evidence supporting our case.
Six months ago, we welcomed our baby, Emma Luna. I am also the mother of my 12-year-old daughter, Valery, who loves and misses her father very much.
My husband arrived later and, after being detained for two months, applied for asylum as well. Our attorney was able to combine our cases. On March 3, he passed his credible fear interview and was scheduled to appear before a judge with me in September. We finally felt hopeful.
But everything changed in an instant.
After being told to wait for documents, four ICE agents suddenly detained my husband. He called me devastated. Since that day, our family has been separated.
My husband is a carpenter, a hardworking man, and a loving father and partner. He has no criminal record in Colombia or in the United States. We came here only seeking protection, but instead, our family has been torn apart.
A judge has now granted my husband a bond, which means he can come home to us while we continue our case—but we cannot afford to pay it.
I am now alone caring for our newborn and my young daughter, doing everything I can to stay strong while fighting to reunite our family.
We are asking for your support to help us pay my husband’s bond and bring him home. Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to being together again. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing our story.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support. God bless you.
