I'm Carolina Mendoza (Faraudo) making this fundraiser to help my friend and sister Marlene Lopez who I cherish and who cared for my father during his illness. She needs an urgent major surgery to save her life and doesn’t t have the necessary resources. She lives in Venezuela where the economical situation is in crisis and her congregation brothers are very poor. External help will make a difference to reach the goal to pay for her surgery and help her to survive. Please think that giving maybe $20 can help a lot … the time is expiring…

Our beloved friend Marlene López, is a registered nurse and a zealous regular pioneer in the Jehovah’s witnesses organization, is a 77 years old active woman that needs to have a mayor surgery, as soon as possible, for a Renal Tumor, which was diagnosed on November 9, 2023, after going to a medical evaluation for having abundant bleeding in the urine. After an ultrasound study, a large Space Occupying Lesion was evidenced that occupies almost the entire left kidney, being corroborated by the complementary UROTAC examination with contrast, where a solid tumor of more than 10 cm could be seen, located in the Upper Pole Middle Third of the left kidney.

In view of the size of the tumor, the kidney must be completely removed using the Left Open Radical Nephrectomy technique. To prevent bleeding in the urine and prevent the drop in hemoglobin she has continued to take medications, however there is a latent risk of massive bleeding that puts her life at risk.

As is known, the chances of life with only one kidney are high, which is why she wants to continue living, she says; "I value very much the life that God has given me, I am a retired nurse, I like to help people and despite my age, I still provide care service to relatives and friends."

Marlene lives in Venezuela, in the city of Naguanagua and has neither medical insurance nor the financial resources to cover the costs of this surgery and the medical treatments she will need later.

Marlene is part of our international congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and actively participates in teaching people in her community to know biblical truths, she is very loved in her congregation. She was baptized 17 years ago and has been serving as a regular pioneer for 16 1/2 years. The economic situation of the country prevents many brothers in Venezuela from having the necessary resources for medical treatments and it is even difficult to find what to eat sometimes only once a day! Thanks to their christian love, they share the little they have and sacrifice for each other, thus they have always managed to survive with the help of Jehovah.

Soy Carolina Mendoza (Faraudo). Estoy haciendo este fundraiser para ayudar a mi amiga y hermana Marlene López a quien aprecio y quien cuidó a mi padre durante su enfermedad. Ella necesita una operación mayor urgente para salvar su vida y no cuenta con los recursos necesarios. Ella vive en Venezuela donde existe una crisis económica y donde los hermanos de su congregación son también muy pobres. Aunque están recogiendo fondos, solo la ayuda fuera de Venezuela hará una diferencia y podremos lograr la meta de permitir su operación para salvar su vida. Piense que quizás donando unos $20 puede significar mucho para salvar una vida… Por favor, el tiempo se nos agota…

Why I'm fundraising / Por qué se recogen fondos?

Nuestra querida amiga Marlene López, es una hermana precursora regular, es una enfermera registrada que ha trabajado por muchos años, y de 77 años de edad. Necesita ser operada lo más pronto posible de un Tumor Renal, el cual fue diagnosticado este 9 de Noviembre del 2023, luego de acudir a una evaluación médica por presentar sangramiento abundante por la orina.

Tras realizarse un estudio de ecografía se evidenció una gran Lesión Ocupante de Espacio que ocupa casi la totalidad del riñón izquierdo, siendo corroborada por el examen complementario UROTAC con contraste, donde se pudo apreciar tumor sólido de más de 10 cm, ubicado en Polo Superior Tercio Medio del riñón izquierdo. En vista del tamaño del tumor, el riñón debe ser extirpado completamente mediante la técnica Nefrectomía Radical Abierta Izquierda. Para prevenir el sangrado por la orina y evitar el descenso de la hemoglobina se ha mantenido tomando medicamentos, sin embargo existe el riesgo latente de una hemorragia masiva que ponga en riesgo su vida.

Como es sabido, las posibilidades de vida con un solo riñón son altas, por eso desea seguir viviendo, ella expresa; “valoro mucho la vida que Dios me ha dado, soy enfermera jubilada, me gusta ayudar a la gente y a pesar de mi edad, aun presto servicio asistencial a parientes y amigos.”

Marlene vive en Venezuela, en la ciudad de Naguanagua y no cuenta ni con un seguro médico ni con los recursos económicos para costear los gastos de esta intervención quirúrgica y los tratamientos médicos que necesitará posteriormente.

Marlene es parte de nuestra congregación internacional de los Testigos de Jehová y participa activamente en ayudar a la gente de su comunidad a conocer las verdades bíblicas, es muy querida en su congregación. Ha servido por 17 años desde que se bautizó y ha servido como precursora regular desde hace 16 1/2 años. La situación económica del país impide a muchos hermanos de Venezuela tener los recursos necesarios para tratamientos médicos y hasta es difícil encontrar qué comer a veces tan solo una vez al día! Gracias al amor cristiano ellos comparten lo poquito que tienen y se sacrifican unos en favor de otros, así han logrado sobrevivir siempre con la ayuda de Jehová.
