Nelly es una madre de 52 años, con dos hijas y esposa de Santiago. Nelly está luchando contra un cáncer de cuello uterino en etapa 4A
Nelly y Santiago son padres humildes y trabajadores que estaban emprendiendo un negocio de venta y reparto de pizzas. Sus vidas cambiaron inesperadamente pocas semanas después de descubrir que Nelly había sido mal diagnosticada. Lo que ellos creían que no era grave, resultó ser —según descubrieron los médicos— un cáncer en etapa 4.
En enero de este año (2026), Nelly fue diagnosticada con cáncer etapa 4A en el Hospital Eugenio Espejo, en Quito, Ecuador. Permaneció hospitalizada allí durante un mes; debido al cáncer, perdió su riñón izquierdo y ahora requiere 6 sesiones de diálisis para salvar su vida.
Santiago no ha podido trabajar debido a que debe brindar atención a su esposa las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana. Nelly requiere cuidados muy delicados, lo cual resulta aún más difícil debido a que se encuentra en un hospital de bajos recursos en Ecuador, donde el personal de enfermería es insuficiente en comparación con la cantidad de pacientes que atienden.
A Nelly se le ha asignado una cita en el área de Oncología —programada para este próximo 27 de marzo— para comenzar a recibir quimioterapia y radioterapia. La situación es muy delicada y dolorosa.
Además, tienen dos hijas pequeñas a las que también deben mantener. Ninguna madre debería tener que pasar por el dolor de preguntarse si llegará a verlas crecer; ni sufrir la angustia de que sus hijas no sepan si su madre recibirá la ayuda y los cuidados adecuados debido a las dificultades económicas.

Nelly and Santiago are humble, hardworking parents who have been starting a business selling and delivering pizzas. Their lives changed unexpectedly within a few weeks after finding out Nelly had been missed diagnosed. What was something that they though was not severe, the doctors found out it was Stage 4A cancer.
In January of this year (2026), Nelly was diagnosed with cancer at the Eugenio Espejo Hospital in Quito, Ecuador. She was hospitalized there for a month; due to the cancer, she lost her left kidney, and she now requires 6 rounds of dialysis to save her life.
Santiago has been unable to work due to having to provide 24/7 care of his wife. Nelly requires very delicate care, which is also difficult due to being in a low income hospital in Ecuador. Where nurses are understaffed compared to the amount of patients they have.
Nelly has been given an appointment with Oncology—scheduled for this coming March 27th—to begin receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The situation is very delicate and painful.
Having two young daughters to also provide for. No mother should have to go through the pain of worrying if she will get to see them grow. The pain of the daughters also not knowing if their mother will get the appropriate help and care due to economical hardship.
Helping them to keep moving forward through the ordeal they are currently facing.
