<div>Hola, amigos y amigas. Mi nombre es Clavel Rangel, soy periodista venezolana, y he organizado esta campaña para mi mamá, Moraima Jiménez, paciente crónica de artritis reumatoide y quien ahora necesita una prótesis de cadera para volver a caminar y ya no tener más dolor.

<div>La artritis reumatoide no es nueva en nuestras vidas. Los pacientes con artritis como la de mi mamá viven con dolor y solo las medicinas y el tratamiento ayudan a aliviarlo. En ese largo viaje contra la artritis reumatoide, siempre contó en Venezuela con la medicina disponible hasta que, en 2015, el Instituto Venezolano de Seguros Sociales (IVSS) dejó de entregar el tratamiento para estos pacientes crónicos. Incluso, a través del IVSS pudo ponerse una primera prótesis en la rodilla. Las operaciones que vinieron después, otra prótesis de rodilla y cabeza de fémur, pudimos pagarlas. Para esta fecha, mi mamá tiene la artritis controlada gracias a un nuevo tratamiento que hemos podido costear, sin embargo, no contamos con el dinero suficiente para cubrir esta nueva operación.

<div>Aunque padece la enfermedad desde muy joven, fue en 2021 cuando su avance llegó a la cadera, desgastando las articulaciones de esta zona. La consecuencia es que cada vez es más difícil para ella moverse, aunado a que su movilidad —en general— ya es limitada. En las últimas semanas el dolor se ha acrecentado y necesita ayuda para las tareas más simples: pararse de la cama, ir al baño, caminar al cuarto, en fin, moverse. Los pacientes como ella, inmunodeprimidas, necesitan condiciones hospitalarias óptimas para evitar que se compliquen con otras patologías y que la intervención sea exitosa. Con la operación no solo recuperaría parte de su independencia, sino que podría continuar su tratamiento contra el avance de esta enfermedad.

<div>Mi mamá es guara, orgullosamente nacida en Barquisimeto. Vivió siempre entre Lara y Caracas, hasta que en 1985 mis papas se fueran a Ciudad Guayana — al sur de Venezuela— enamorados del proyecto industrial que se prometía alrededor de las empresas básicas. Ama bailar, el suero, la familia, las fiestas, echar cuentos; es amante y defensora de los animales, y una optimista militante. Es la mejor vecina del mundo, siempre dispuesta ayudar a la comunidad. Quizás una de las cosas que más admiro es su afinado e inteligente sentido del humor, un código que se ha convertido en el hilo conductor de nuestras vidas y el motor que — como se imaginan— me ha hecho creer que lograremos este y todos los tratamientos que vengan para lograr que esté bien, echando vaina, como siempre.
