Amigas y amigos, Luis nos necesita.

Muchos ya saben que recientemente enfrentó una nueva crisis. Durante una operación para atender una obstrucción intestinal, los médicos detectaron que el cáncer hizo metástasis en el peritoneo.

Esto coloca a Luis en una situación comprometida. Actualmente, permanece hospitalizado desde hace aproximadamente una semana. La oncóloga ha propuesto cuidados paliativos, señalando que, desde el punto de vista oncológico, las opciones son limitadas. Este proceso puede durar meses o incluso más tiempo.

Sin embargo, Luis, como siempre, sigue luchando y mantiene la esperanza en un tratamiento que ya se ha probado en otras partes del mundo y que comienza a llegar a México, el cual podría darle una oportunidad.

Hoy nos necesita más que nunca. De inicio, antes de comenzar este tratamiento, Luis debe permanecer en el hospital y recibir alimentación intravenosa, además de cuidados especializados. Para esta primera etapa, hemos estimado que los gastos, incluyendo enfermería y otros apoyos necesarios, ascienden a aproximadamente 500 USD diarios.

Esto es solo el inicio. Más adelante, los costos serán mayores, pero hoy queremos ayudar a Luis y a Rusby a reunir lo necesario para esta primera etapa: un poco más de 500,000 pesos mexicanos.

Friends, Luis needs us.

Many of you already know that he recently faced a new crisis. During a surgery to treat an intestinal obstruction, doctors discovered that the cancer had metastasized to the peritoneum.

This places Luis in a critical condition. He has now been hospitalized for about a week. His oncologist has recommended palliative care, noting that, from an oncology standpoint, treatment options are limited. This stage may last months or potentially longer.

However, as always, Luis continues to fight and remains hopeful about a treatment that has already been used in other parts of the world and is just beginning to become available in Mexico—one that could offer him a chance.

Today, he needs us more than ever. As a first step, before starting this treatment, Luis must remain hospitalized and receive intravenous nutrition, along with specialized care. For this initial stage, we estimate that the costs—including nursing care and other essential support—amount to approximately $500 USD per day.

This is only the beginning. Costs will increase in the coming stages, but right now we want to help Luis and Rusby raise what is needed for this first phase: just over 500,000 Mexican pesos.

Luis Osorio está enfrentando una de las batallas más difíciles de su vida: el cáncer gástrico.

Luis ya venció una vez al cáncer, después de someterse a una cirugía en la que le extirparon parte del estómago para remover el tumor. Posteriormente recibió quimioterapia con la esperanza de que el cáncer quedara atrás. Sin embargo, después de ese proceso tan duro, los médicos confirmaron que la enfermedad regresó.

Actualmente, Luis se encuentra en su segunda ronda de quimioterapia, más radio e inmunoterapia.

Aunque está recibiendo atención médica a través del ISSSTE, la realidad es que los gastos asociados al tratamiento son mucho mayores de lo que cualquier sistema puede cubrir por completo. El seguro de gastos médicos mayores ya se agotó, y su salario —junto con el de su esposa— apenas alcanza para cubrir los gastos básicos del hogar.

Los medicamentos complementarios, estudios adicionales, traslados, alimentación especial y otros tratamientos necesarios representan un costo constante y elevado.

Hoy necesitamos unirnos para apoyar a Luis y a su familia en este momento tan difícil.

Luis Osorio is facing one of the most difficult battles of his life: gastric cancer.

Luis has already beaten cancer once. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor, which required removing part of his stomach. He then received chemotherapy in the hope that the cancer was gone for good. However, after enduring such a difficult process, doctors confirmed that the disease has returned.

Luis is currently undergoing his second round of chemotherapy, plus radiation and immune therapy.

Although he is receiving medical care through ISSSTE (Mexican health system), the reality is that the costs associated with treatment far exceed what any system can fully cover. His major medical insurance has already been exhausted, and his salary—together with his wife—is barely enough to cover their basic household expenses.

Additional medications, follow-up tests, transportation, specialized nutrition, and other necessary treatments represent a constant and significant financial burden.

Today, we need to come together to support Luis and his family during this incredibly challenging time.
