Support Laura — A Brave Mom Fighting Cancer with Love, Strength, and Two Little Reasons to Keep Going

Hi, my name is Fran, and I’m reaching out on behalf of someone who means the world to me my dear friend Laura.

Laura is a devoted single mother to two incredible little girls: Catie (5) and Callie (7). Callie was born with Down syndrome, and both girls are the heartbeat of her life. Everything Laura does every sacrifice, every choice is for them.

But in March 2025, Laura’s world was turned upside down. She was diagnosed with Stage 3B triple-negative breast cancer an aggressive and fast-moving cancer that demands intensive treatment and constant care.

She now travels to MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, South Carolina, up to three to five times a week, a 200-mile round trip from her home. Gas alone costs her about $65 per day, plus parking fees, making each trip a significant financial strain. And her treatment isn’t fully covered by insurance she has to pay $280 out of pocket twice a week for vital IV infusion therapy that helps strengthen her immune system and replenish what chemo takes away.

Despite everything despite the pain, the exhaustion, and the fear Laura shows up. For her girls. For her future. For her life.

But she had to stop working. Between her compromised immune system, her intense treatment schedule, and the demands of raising two young children alone, it just isn’t possible. The support she receives isn’t nearly enough to cover essentials like rent, utilities, food, medical care, and transportation.

This is where we come in.

Laura has always been the kind of person who lifts others up. Now it’s time for her community to lift her. I’m asking from the bottom of my heart to please help however you can. Whether it’s covering the cost of one trip, one IV, or simply sharing her story, every act of kindness matters.

Let’s show Laura she’s not alone in this fight. Let’s help her focus on healing, and on being the amazing mom that Callie and Catie need so much.

Hola, mi nombre es Fran y quiero hablarte sobre alguien que significa muchísimo para mí: mi querida amiga Laura.

Laura es una madre soltera y dedicada de dos niñas increíbles: Catie (5 años) y Callie (7 años). Callie nació con síndrome de Down, y ambas son el centro de su vida. Todo lo que Laura hace—cada sacrificio, cada esfuerzo—es por ellas.

Actualmente, Laura debe viajar hasta el Centro Oncológico Hollings de MUSC en Charleston, Carolina del Sur, entre tres y cinco veces por semana. Cada viaje representa un recorrido de 200 millas (320 kilómetros) ida y vuelta, con un costo aproximado de $65 dólares diarios en gasolina, además de los gastos de estacionamiento.
