Ayudémosla a seguir adelante

Hay procesos que nadie elige, pero que aun así se atraviesan con una valentía inmensa.

Hace algunos años, nuestra querida amiga tuvo que dejar Venezuela con el corazón lleno de incertidumbre, pero también con la esperanza de construir un futuro mejor para ella y para su hijo. Como tantos migrantes, comenzó desde cero: lejos de su tierra, de su familia y de todo lo que conocía. Trabajó duro, superó muchos obstáculos y poco a poco fue reconstruyendo su vida.

Pero la vida le presentó un desafío inesperado, en uno de los momentos más difíciles que el mundo ha vivido recientemente. En plena pandemia, cuando la incertidumbre, el aislamiento y el miedo eran parte del día a día, recibió un diagnóstico de cáncer.

En medio de hospitales, restricciones, distancia de sus seres queridos y un entorno lleno de incertidumbre, tuvo que atravesar este proceso prácticamente en soledad, sosteniéndose desde lo más profundo de su ser.

Desde entonces, su camino ha estado marcado por un gran desafío que ha transformado su día a día. Durante todo este tiempo, el gobierno de Canadá ha cubierto la mayor parte de los gastos médicos, algo por lo cual ella y su familia están profundamente agradecidos. Sin embargo, después de estos años, ahora necesita cuidados y terapias adicionales que lamentablemente no están cubiertos por el sistema de salud.

Dadas las circunstancias, su esposo es actualmente quien cuenta con un trabajo relativamente estable, siendo el único ingreso para cubrir los gastos básicos del hogar. Además, en los últimos meses, debido a la complejidad de la situación, también ha asumido la mayor parte de las responsabilidades del hogar, sosteniendo a su familia en todos los sentidos posibles.

Cada vez que el cansancio aparece, ella vuelve a su centro y recuerda el motivo que le da fuerza para seguir adelante: su hijo. Él es su motor, su esperanza y su razón para continuar. Su mayor deseo es tan simple como profundo: estar presente para verlo crecer, acompañarlo, abrazarlo y compartir cada etapa de su vida.

Hoy, los nuevos tratamientos y terapias representan costos que superan lo que pueden asumir solos. Por eso acudimos a la solidaridad de quienes puedan y deseen ayudar. Cada aporte, por pequeño que sea, significa algo muy grande: más posibilidades, más alivio y más tiempo para una madre que desea seguir acompañando a su hijo.

Help her keep going

​There are journeys nobody chooses, yet they are faced with incredible bravery.

​A few years ago, our dear friend left Venezuela with a heavy heart and a lot of uncertainty, but also with the hope of building a better life for herself and her son. Like so many others, she started from scratch: far from home, her family, and everything she knew. She worked hard, pushed through every obstacle, and bit by bit, she rebuilt her life.

​Then, life threw her an unexpected curveball during one of the hardest times the world has seen. In the middle of the pandemic, surrounded by isolation and fear, she was diagnosed with cancer.

​Between hospital visits, travel restrictions, and being away from her loved ones, she had to navigate this battle almost entirely on her own, finding strength from deep within.

​Since then, her life has been defined by this challenge. For years, the Canadian government has covered the majority of her medical expenses, something she and her family are incredibly grateful for. However, she now needs additional care and therapies that are unfortunately not covered by the public health system.

​As things stand, her husband is the only one with a steady job, providing the sole income for the household. In recent months, given the complexity of the situation, he has also taken on most of the domestic responsibilities, holding the family together in every way possible.

​Whenever she feels exhausted, she finds her centre and remembers why she keeps fighting: her son. He is her motor, her hope, and her reason to stay strong. Her greatest wish is as simple as it is profound: to be there to see him grow up, to guide him, to hold him, and to be part of every milestone in his life.

​Right now, the costs of these new treatments and therapies are more than they can manage alone. That is why we are reaching out to anyone who is able and willing to help. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a massive difference: it means more options, more relief, and more time for a mother who just wants to be there for her son.
