Ayudemos a Gabriel - Let's help Gabriel

Gabriel Mairena tuvo un accidente el 20 de mayo. Estaba trabajaba en framing usando una pistola de clavos cuando se cayó de una escalera y la pistola disparó un clavo de 4 pulgados en el pecho. El clavo perforó 4 órganos: el corazón, el hígado, el diafragma, y el estómago. Fue trasladado por la ambulancia y en el hospital fue sometido de emergencia a cirugía a corazón abierto. Los médicos nos dijeron que tenía que decirle adiós y no había tiempo para esperar a que su mamá llegara. La operación duró 6 horas y había más de 40 médicos y enfermeros trabajando en la cirugía pero salió como un éxito y después de ocho días, Gabriel ya logró beber agua, caminar despacio, y comer, pero aún queda una recuperación muy larga por la cual no puede trabajar ni conducir.

La factura del hospital vale más de un millón de dólares y eso no cubre la terapia física ni ayuda psicológica que va a ocupar en el futuro. Sin poder trabajar, Gabriel y su familia aprecian cualquier ayuda que reciban.

Gabriel es un joven de 25 años que antes de su accidente era deportista, extrovertido, y amable y jugaba fútbol cada fin de semana con varios equipos. Se mudó a USA de Nicaragua en 2022 debido a la situación sociopolítica y siempre ha trabajado aquí para apoyar a su familia aqui en USA y en su país. Muchas gracias por cualquier ayuda.

Gabriel Mairena had an accident on May 20th. He was working in framing using a nail gun when he fell off a ladder and the nail gun fired a four inch nail into his chest. The nail perforated four organs: the heart, liver, diaphragm, and stomach. He was brought in an ambulance to the hospital where he was rushed into emergency open heart surgery. The doctors told us to say our goodbyes, and there was no time for them to wait for his mother to arrive to say goodbye. The operation lasted six horas and there were 40 workers operating throughout the surgery, which was a success. After eight days Gabriel could drink water, walk slowly, and eat, but there still remains a long recovery in which he will not be able to work nor drive.

The hospital bill is over $1million, and that does not cover the physical or psychological therapy he will need going forward. Without being able to work, Gabriel and his family appreciate whatever help they receive.

Gabriel is a 25 year old who, before his accident, was athletic, extroverted, and kind, and he played soccer every weekend with various teams. He moved to the US from Nicaragua in 2022 due to the sociopolitical situation, and he has always worked here to support his family both here in the US and back home in his country.
