Esta es la historia de mi esposo, Daniel

Su historia comienza en 1983, cuando Daniel, siendo apenas un niño, sufrió un fuerte golpe en la cabeza al chocar contra una columna de cemento. Al cabo de un mes, los dolores de cabeza se intensificaron, y al llegar al Hospital Vargas, los médicos descubrieron que tenía pus en el cerebro, con riesgo de meningitis. Fue ingresado de urgencia y permaneció hospitalizado durante un año, sometido a varios drenajes craneales. Milagrosamente, logró recuperarse y pudo iniciar una vida normal gracias a un tratamiento adecuado.

Sin embargo, en 2004 los síntomas regresaron. Daniel volvió a sufrir fuertes dolores de cabeza, pérdida de conciencia y episodios de desorientación. Tras varios estudios, los médicos detectaron una cicatriz meningocerebral causada por las cirugías anteriores. Fue necesario realizar una nueva operación cerebral, de altísimo riesgo. Gracias a Dios, salió de ella sin secuelas ni daños cognitivos. Fue otro milagro en su vida.

En 2014, surgieron nuevos problemas: ausencias, malestares frecuentes y el hallazgo de lesiones necrotizantes en el cráneo. Aunque se intentó una reconstrucción ósea, la necrosis continuó y comenzó a perder líquido cefalorraquídeo. En 2017, se le realizó una craneoplastia con una prótesis de titanio, lo que permitió, una vez más, una recuperación exitosa.

Pero a finales de 2024, aparecieron nuevos síntomas: dificultades para mantener el equilibrio y alteraciones neurológicas. El diagnóstico fue claro: un neurinoma acústico de tamaño mediano, que requiere una nueva cirugía importante.

Como familia, hemos hecho todo lo posible para cubrir los gastos médicos a lo largo de estos años. Sin embargo, hemos llegado a un punto en el que ya no podemos continuar solos. Los costos siguen aumentando, y el proceso de recuperación es largo y demandante.

Por eso, hoy acudimos a ustedes con humildad y esperanza. Si está en su corazón ayudarnos, cualquier contribución —por pequeña que sea— será de un valor incalculable en este momento tan crítico.

This is the story of my husband, Daniel

His story begins in 1983, when Daniel, still just a child, suffered a severe blow to the head after hitting a concrete column. A month later, his headaches worsened, and upon arriving at Vargas Hospital, doctors discovered he had pus in his brain, with a risk of meningitis. He was rushed into emergency care and remained hospitalized for a year, undergoing several cranial drainages. Miraculously, he recovered and was able to begin a normal life thanks to proper treatment.

However, in 2004 the symptoms returned. Daniel began to experience severe headaches, loss of consciousness, and episodes of disorientation. After several tests, doctors detected a meningo-cerebral scar caused by his previous surgeries. Another high-risk brain surgery was necessary. By the grace of God, he came through it without any aftereffects or cognitive damage. It was another miracle in his life.

In 2014, new problems arose: blackouts, frequent discomfort, and the discovery of necrotizing lesions in his skull. Although an attempt was made to reconstruct the bone, the necrosis persisted, and he began to lose cerebrospinal fluid. In 2017, he underwent a cranioplasty with a titanium prosthesis, which once again allowed for a successful recovery.

But at the end of 2024, new symptoms appeared: difficulty maintaining balance and neurological issues. The diagnosis was clear: a medium-sized acoustic neuroma, requiring another important surgery.

As a family, we have done everything possible to cover medical expenses over the years. However, we have now reached a point where we can no longer do it alone. The costs continue to rise, and the recovery process is long and demanding.
