Álvaro, a dedicated teacher who has spent his life educating in Houston, now needs our help. He was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, an unexpected diagnosis that has suddenly turned his life and his family's upside down.

For over twenty years, Álvaro has been a beacon of hope and support for countless students and families, working as a bilingual teacher and helping to shape the futures of aspiring educators across Texas. Teaching runs in his family, and here in Texas, he found his true calling, becoming a beloved and respected figure to all who know him.

Today, while Álvaro is receiving treatment at MD Anderson, he and his family are facing not only an emotional challenge but also the financial impact that comes with it, which is expected to last around six months.

This GoFundMe campaign is aimed at helping Álvaro and his family cover the costs that insurance doesn't, additional medical treatments, and to ease the financial burden caused by their loss of income during this time. Our goal is to give them some financial relief so they can focus on what truly matters: his health and recovery.
