Mi nombre es Mariana y hoy acudo a ustedes con el corazón abierto y lleno de esperanza en nombre de mi familia y, especialmente, de mi tío, Alexander Yépez.
Hace un par de semanas, nuestra realidad dio un vuelco cuando a mi tío le diagnosticaron cáncer de próstata. Quienes conocen a Alexander saben la luz de persona que es: un hombre bondadoso, trabajador y un pilar fundamental para todos nosotros.
Ellos se encuentran en Venezuela y, afortunadamente, su seguro médico logró cubrir las dos primeras cirugías de emergencia para extraer el tumor. Ha sido un gran primer paso, pero la batalla no termina aquí. Ahora, Alexander necesita iniciar de inmediato sus sesiones de quimioterapia para asegurar su recuperación completa.
Como muchos saben, la situación actual en Venezuela hace que costear tratamientos oncológicos de esta magnitud sea un reto monumental y económicamente inalcanzable para nosotros en este momento. Los costos son sumamente elevados y solos no podemos lograrlo.
Esta batalla tiene un significado profundamente personal y delicado para mí. Mi familia ya ha caminado por este sendero antes; el cáncer nos ha tocado de cerca de una forma muy dura, llevándose a mi tía y a mi madre. Guardamos su memoria con todo el amor del mundo, pero hoy, la vida nos pone frente a una nueva oportunidad de luchar. No queremos permitir que el cáncer vuelva a arrebatarnos a un ser tan querido. Alexander tiene muchas ganas de vivir, y nosotros muchas ganas de seguir compartiendo la vida con él.

My name is Mariana, and today I am reaching out to you with an open heart and full of hope on behalf of my family and, most importantly, my uncle, Alexander Yépez.
A couple of weeks ago, our world was turned upside down when my uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Anyone who knows Alexander knows what a bright light he is—a kind, hardworking man and a fundamental pillar for all of us.
He and his family live in Venezuela. Fortunately, their health insurance managed to cover the first two emergency surgeries to remove the tumor. It was a massive first step, but the battle doesn't end here. Now, Alexander needs to start chemotherapy immediately to ensure his full recovery.
As many of you know, the current situation in Venezuela makes funding oncological treatments of this magnitude a monumental challenge, and it is financially out of reach for us right now. The costs are incredibly high, and we simply cannot do this alone.
This battle holds a deeply personal and delicate meaning for me. My family has walked this painful path before; cancer has touched us closely in a very harsh way, taking both my aunt and my mother. We hold their memory with all the love in the world, but today, life is giving us a new opportunity to fight. We refuse to let cancer steal another deeply loved member of our family. Alexander has so much to live for, and we want nothing more than to keep sharing life with him.
