Hola, mi nombre es Manuel y quiero pedirte unos minutos para que conozcas a Max, nuestro amado perrito, y la lucha desesperada que está dando por su vida.

Max tiene 8 años y es más que una mascota. Es parte de nuestra familia, nuestro compañero fiel, nuestro consentido. Nos ha acompañado en todos los momentos importantes: en las risas, las lágrimas, las mudanzas, las pérdidas… siempre con su colita moviéndose, su carita llena de amor y sus ojitos que hablan sin palabras.

Hasta hace apenas unos días, Max era un perrito completamente sano y activo. La mañana del 22 de abril todo parecía normal: comió, caminó, se dejó acariciar como siempre. Mi mamá salió por unas horas y al regresar lo encontró tirado en el suelo, temblando, sin poder moverse, llorando de dolor. No podía levantar su cuerpo ni mover sus patitas. Fue una imagen desgarradora.

Sin perder tiempo, lo llevamos al veterinario. Allí le hicieron radiografías, exámenes de sangre, y nos recetaron medicamentos para el dolor y la inflamación. Pero el veterinario nos dijo algo que nos partió el alma: el problema parecía estar en su cuello, en la médula espinal, y necesitaba con urgencia ser evaluado por un neurólogo especializado.

Al día siguiente, lo llevamos a una clínica neurológica. Después de una revisión detallada, recibimos el diagnóstico:

Max sufre una mielopatía cervical entre las vértebras C1 y C5, causada probablemente por una enfermedad del disco intervertebral (IVDD).

Tiene tetraparesia no ambulatoria, lo que significa que no puede caminar ni sostener su cuerpo.

Aunque no puede moverse, aún siente dolor y conserva sensibilidad en sus patitas, lo que nos da una esperanza.

El neurólogo fue claro: Max necesita una resonancia magnética (MRI) y una cirugía neurológica urgente. Si no actuamos pronto, su condición podría empeorar y quedarse paralizado para siempre.

Pero aquí viene la parte más difícil: el tratamiento completo tiene un costo de aproximadamente $14,000 USD.

Help Us Save Max — Our Brave Four-Legged Fighter

Hi, my name is Manuel, and I want to ask for just a few minutes of your time to tell you about Max, our beloved dog, and the heartbreaking battle he's fighting for his life.

Max is 8 years old and he's so much more than a pet. He's family — our loyal companion, our little shadow, our source of unconditional love. He’s been by our side through everything: the laughs, the tears, the milestones, the losses… always wagging his tail, always with that sweet face and those eyes full of love.

Until just a few days ago, Max was a completely healthy and active pup. The morning of April 22 started like any other — he ate, walked around, let us cuddle him. But when my mom returned home after being out for just a few hours, she found him collapsed on the floor, trembling, crying in pain, unable to move his legs or lift his body. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives.

We rushed him to the vet immediately. After X-rays and bloodwork, we were given some medication to help with the pain and inflammation. But the vet told us something that broke our hearts: the issue seemed to be in his neck, possibly in his spinal cord. We were referred urgently to a veterinary neurologist.

The next day, Max was examined by a specialist. After a full neurological evaluation, we received the diagnosis:

Max has cervical myelopathy between vertebrae C1 and C5, likely caused by intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

He is suffering from non-ambulatory tetraparesis, which means he can’t walk or support his body.

The good news: he still has feeling in his legs, and he still reacts to touch — which gives us hope.

The neurologist was very clear: Max urgently needs an MRI and spinal surgery. Without treatment, his condition could worsen, and he may be permanently paralyzed.

But this is where we need your help. The full cost of his treatment is estimated at $14,000 USD.
