El 24 de junio, la vida de mis abuelos cambió para siempre.
Tras los dos devastadores terremotos que sacudieron La Guaira, el edificio donde vivían sufrió daños estructurales irreparables y ya no podrán volver a su hogar.
Gracias a Dios, fueron rescatados cerca de la medianoche y hoy se encuentran sanos y salvos junto a nuestra familia en Caracas. Aunque perdieron absolutamente todo, conservan lo más importante: las ganas de vivir. Y hoy, eso lo es todo para nosotros.
Físicamente, sufrieron algunos rasguños, moretones y pequeñas cortadas, pero afortunadamente ninguna lesión de gravedad. Emocionalmente, aún se encuentran en estado de shock. Después de horas de angustia e incertidumbre, tenerlos con vida es el mayor milagro que podíamos recibir y por el que estaremos agradecidos para siempre.
Ahora enfrentan la incertidumbre de volver a empezar desde cero.
Lo más difícil es que esta no es la primera vez que viven una tragedia así.
Hace 27 años, durante la tragedia de Vargas de 1999, también perdieron absolutamente todo. Con muchísimo esfuerzo, trabajo y resiliencia lograron reconstruir su vida desde cero.
Jamás imaginamos que, casi tres décadas después, volverían a enfrentarse a una realidad tan devastadora.
Hoy mis abuelos tienen 78 y 76 años. A una edad en la que deberían disfrutar de tranquilidad, estabilidad y el fruto de toda una vida de trabajo, se encuentran nuevamente ante la incertidumbre de tener que empezar desde cero.
Como familia, hemos creado esta campaña con la esperanza de ayudarles a reconstruir su vida y devolverles la tranquilidad y seguridad que tanto merecen.
Los fondos recaudados se destinarán exclusivamente a ayudarles a cubrir las necesidades más urgentes para comenzar de nuevo una vida digna.
Las donaciones permitirán cubrir:
- Vivienda temporal y los gastos necesarios para establecer un nuevo hogar.
- Un automóvil para que se puedan trasladar.
- Ropa, calzado y artículos de primera necesidad.
- Alimentación y productos de higiene personal.
- Medicamentos, tratamientos y atención médica.
- Exámenes, consultas y terapia física como parte de su recuperación.
- Mobiliario, electrodomésticos y todo lo necesario para que puedan volver a construir un hogar seguro y digno.
Cada donación, sin importar el monto, representa una oportunidad para devolverles un poco de esperanza y aliviar el enorme desafío que hoy enfrentan.

On June 24, my grandparents' lives changed forever.
After two devastating earthquakes struck La Guaira, Venezuela, the apartment building they had called home suffered irreversible structural damage. They can never return.
By the grace of God, they were rescued just before midnight and are now safe with our family in Caracas. Although they lost absolutely everything they owned, they still have the most important thing: the will to live. Right now, that is everything to us.
Physically, they suffered cuts, bruises, and minor injuries, but thankfully nothing life-threatening. Emotionally, they are still in shock. After hours of fear and uncertainty, having them alive is the greatest miracle we could have asked for, and one we will be forever grateful for.
Now they face the unimaginable challenge of starting over once again.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that this is not the first time they have lived through a tragedy like this.
Twenty-seven years ago, during the 1999 Vargas tragedy, they also lost everything. Through years of hard work, determination, and resilience, they rebuilt their lives from the ground up.
We never imagined that nearly three decades later they would have to face such a devastating reality all over again.
Today, my grandparents are 78 and 76 years old. At a stage in life when they should be enjoying peace, stability, and the rewards of a lifetime of hard work, they are once again facing the uncertainty of having to rebuild everything from scratch.
As a family, we have created this fundraiser to help them rebuild their lives and restore the security and peace of mind they so deeply deserve.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping them cover the most urgent necessities as they begin again with dignity.
Your donation will help provide:
- Temporary housing and the costs of establishing a new home.
- A vehicle to provide them with transportation.
- Clothing, shoes, and other basic necessities.
- Food and personal hygiene supplies.
- Prescription medications, medical care, and ongoing treatments.
- Medical exams, doctor's visits, and physical therapy as part of their recovery.
- Essential furniture, household appliances, and everything needed to create a safe and comfortable home again.
Every donation, no matter the amount, is more than financial support. It is a chance to give them hope, restore their dignity, and remind them that they are not alone during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
