Ayudame a tener un parto seguro

The place we call home is where our hearts are ... that is what my mum says!

Today my heart is here, in Melbourne, far from my homeland and my family... but now with a small heart beating inside me. I am almost 8 pregnant and in this difficult time of a pandemic I’ve had no other choice but to ask for your help and solidarity to be able to care for my delivery.

My name is Stephany Aviles Ferrer from Cali- Colombia, I arrived in Australia 8 months ago to study English and to meet with my partner Eduardo Pinilla, an international student too. Two months later I got pregnant, it wasn’t planned, but we were happy with the great news of bringing this new life into ours.

Our plan from the moment we found out, was for the baby to be born in Colombia mainly for the support and to have our family by our side. We were also aware that due to the maternity-related waiting periods and restrictions for my international student medical insurance I would have no coverage at all.

Now with COVID-19, we find ourselves stuck in Australia. After the closure of the borders in both Australia and Colombia I was not allowed to board a commercial flight nor a humanitarian flight, due to the risks for me and for the baby, it is a very long flight and since it must stop in several countries the risk of contagion if quite high.

We have visited health providers in Melbourne, specifically to the hospital where the childbirth would be attended with the hope of having a discount or sorting out a way of payment with no successful outcome. According to the information sent by the hospital, the cost for childbirth alone is AUD17,000 without the possibility of any discount.

My partner and I have managed to save $4,000. Given the current situation, it is impossible for us to pay for the labour costs. This is why we have started this campaign, for those who can and want to help us.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, we believe in the importance of having safe childbirth, as recommended by official services, to ensure our baby is born with basic medical care.

El lugar al que llamamos hogar es aquel donde esté nuestro corazón....eso dice mi madre!

Hoy mi corazón está aquí,en Melbourne...lejos de mi patria y mi familia...pero con un corazón chiquito latiendo dentro de mi ...con casi 8 meses de embarazo y en esta época tan difícil de pandemia y pidiendo la ayuda y solidaridad de todos ustedes para la atención de mi parto...

 

Mi nombre es Stephany aviles Ferrer de Cali, Colombia  llegue a Australia hace 8 meses a estudiar inglés y a reunirme con mi pareja Eduardo Pinilla estudiante también, dos meses después quede embarazada sin planearlo pero felices de esta gran noticia de traer esta nueva vida.

 

Nuestros planes eran que la bebe naciera en colombia principalmente por el acompañamiento y la familia, además que el seguro médico de estudiante internacional tiene cláusulas de permanencia para lo relacionado con la maternidad y en mi caso no tengo ninguna cobertura.

 

Acudimos a los organismos de salud en Melbourne, concretamente al hospital donde sería atendido el parto con la esperanza de tener algún descuento, teniendo en cuanta la situación generada por el covid 19, el cierre de las fronteras tanto en Australia como en colombia no me permitieron abordar un vuelo comercial y tampoco un vuelo humanitario  por los riesgos tanto para mi como para la bebe porque es un vuelo muy largo ya que hace paradas en varios países y por el riesgo de contagio.

 

Mi novio y yo hemos logrado ahorrar 4 mil dólares, pero según la información enviada por el hospital los costos únicamente del parto son de 17.0000 AUD sin la posibilidad de ningún descuento.

 

Dada la situación para nosotros es imposible financiar este costo, por eso hemos iniciado esta campaña, para los que puedan y quieran brindarnos su ayuda.

Debido a la situación del covid 19, creemos en la importancia de tener un parto seguro, como los servicios oficiales nos lo recomiendan, para que nuestra bebe nazca de los cuidados médicos básicos.
