INGLES:
Hello everyone! My name is Aicha and I’m pregnant with my 2nd baby. This time I want to take measures to avoid the trauma, negligence and discrimination I experienced during my first birth. This time I want a dignified, respectful and empowering home birth.
Here is a brief summary of what occurred during the birth of my first:
- My waters started leaking at 38 weeks and as per hospital protocol I had to get induced.
- They attempted to insert a cannula 4 times which was very painful.
- The recommended that I get the epidural as “it would speed up labour”. At this point I had only dilated to 2cm so it was too early to get an epidural. Also, no, an epidural does not speed up your labour.
- As they were inserting the epidural, the anaesthetist used the biggest needle and inserted it way too far until it “accidentally” reached my spinal medula… He did this because of his fatphobic beliefs…
- As you can imagine , I fell unconscious for about 30 minutes.
- …an consequently an emergency caesarean was done in which my baby nearly died due to the error that was committed.
Hence, my goal is to obtain enough funds to be able to afford a homebirth. I have already found a supporting midwife here in Barcelona. But I need help to be able to pay for the service. I really want to get over the trauma and heal.
I’m hoping this birth will be a rebirth of myself as an empowered mother.
As little as €1 goes a long way and will be very much appreciated! Thank you for your time.
