Hola, mi nombre es Braian Salazar López. Soy pelotero de ligas menores dentro de la organización de los San Diego Padres, y hoy no escribo como atleta, sino como hijo.

Mi mamá, Jerdy López, fue diagnosticada en noviembre con cáncer de mama izquierdo con metástasis ósea. Recibir esa noticia fue uno de los momentos más difíciles de nuestras vidas. Desde entonces, nuestra realidad cambió por completo.

Gracias a Dios, pudimos comenzar el tratamiento lo antes posible en diciembre. Al principio, sus quimioterapias eran cada 20 días, pero ahora el tratamiento se ha intensificado y debe recibirlas semanalmente. Ha sido un proceso duro, pero mi mamá sigue luchando con una fortaleza que me inspira todos los días.

Actualmente, está siendo atendida en la Unidad Oncológica Dra. Maruja Clavier, en Barcelona, estado Anzoátegui, Venezuela. Allí recibe la atención médica que necesita, pero los costos del tratamiento, medicamentos, estudios y cuidados han ido aumentando rápidamente. Como hijo, haría cualquier cosa por verla sana otra vez. Aunque trabajo duro persiguiendo mi sueño en el béisbol, la realidad es que no puedo cubrir todos estos gastos por mi cuenta.

Por eso hoy recurro a ustedes. Cada aporte, por pequeño que parezca, nos acerca un poco más a darle a mi mamá la oportunidad de seguir luchando. Si no puedes donar, compartir esta campaña también significa muchísimo para nosotros.

Hi, my name is Braian Salazar. I’m a Minor League player in the San Diego Padres organization, and today I’m not writing to you as an athlete, but as a son.

My mom, Jerdy López, was diagnosed in November with left breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones. Receiving that news was one of the hardest moments of our lives. Since then, everything has changed.

Thankfully, we were able to start treatment as soon as possible in December. At first, her chemotherapy sessions were every 20 days, but now her treatment has intensified and she needs to receive chemotherapy weekly. It has been a very difficult process, but my mom continues to fight with a strength that inspires me every single day.

She is currently receiving treatment at the Unidad Oncológica Dra. Maruja Clavier in Barcelona, Anzoátegui, Venezuela. There, she is getting the medical care she needs, but the costs of treatment, medications, tests, and ongoing care have been rising quickly. As her son, I would do anything to see her healthy again. While I work hard pursuing my dream in baseball, the reality is that I cannot cover all of these expenses on my own.
