Saludos, mi nombre es George Rivas, tengo 73 años, oriundo de Ciudad Bolívar – Edo. Bolívar, ¡pero llanero de corazón! estoy radicado por más de 50 años en las ciudades gemelas de Acarigua-Araure, estado Portuguesa (Venezuela). Soy un trabajador (Jubilado) de la CANTV desde hace 6 años, donde me dedique gratamente y de una manera ininterrumpida por 40 años de servicio en la sede de Portuguesa.

Comparto con ustedes que hace aproximadamente 30 años atrás, fui

diagnosticado con DIABETES TIPO 2, al pasar el tiempo con esta patología, empecé a sentirme mal de la vista, razón por el cuál, me realicé una consulta oftalmológica en la ciudad de Acarigua, donde me diagnosticaron GLAUCOMA.

A raíz de lo diagnosticado, me indicaron que debía realizarme un tratamiento en la ciudad de Caracas para tratarme la tensión ocular en ambos ojos con el fin de reducir la presión y evitar el daño al nervio óptico, mediante la realización de terapias láser y uso de gotas oftalmológicas diarias (Prostaglandinas), sin embargo, ya con el tiempo después de estar aplicándome dicho tratamiento, me señalaron en una consulta de rutina que debía someterme a una operación de Catarata, pero solamente del Ojo Izquierdo, debido que el Ojo derecho lamentablemente ya tenía el Glaucoma muy desarrollado y se centraron solamente en el OI, donde parte de la intervención fue la colocación de un lente intraocular en el ojo tratado.

Con el tiempo y de una manera progresiva fui perdiendo la visión del Ojo derecho hasta su totalidad, tal como lo habían pronosticado. Durante todo este periodo hasta la fecha, fui tratado con el medicamento Avastin, el cual fueron varias inyecciones intravítrea (dentro del ojo).

Ya para este año 2026, específicamente el 8 de Marzo comencé a presentar la visión nublada, no veía casi nada (borrosa) de una manera inmediata, nos dirigimos a una especialista (Retinólogo) para que me revisara y me realizara los estudios pertinentes (Ecografía Ocular) en el ojo que me queda bueno (OI), donde me diagnosticaron RETINOPATÍA DIABÉTICA, ameritando una INTERVENCIÓN QUIRÚRGICA con carácter de URGENCIA y así evitar la pérdida total de la visión de mi Ojo Izquierdo, más los gastos pre y post Operatorio.

Razón por la cual, en este momento, me dirijo a todos mis familiares, amigos, compañeros y personas de buen corazón a través de esta campaña de recaudación para alcanzar el objetivo esperado que es poder operarme (VITRECTOMÍA VÍA PARS PLANA + ENDOFOTOCOAGULACIÓN LÁSER OJO IZQUIERDO) y de esta manera poder continuar con mi vida normal y poder seguir viendo en los años que me quedan al lado de todos mis familiares y amigos.

Me anime a realizar esta acción ya que de una manera muy lamentable, estamos enfrentando una situación económica y social actualmente en Venezuela, en consecuencia de todo esto, no poseo los recursos necesarios para cubrir este operación. Mis ingresos como Jubilado no son suficientes para enfrentar este proceso, es por eso que recurro con mucha fuerza y fe a toda la solidaridad de las personas que me conocen y a quienes, aun sin conocerme, desean tender una mano.

HELP ME PREVENT MY SIGHT!!

Greetings, my name is George Rivas, I am 73 years old, originally from Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar State, but a plainsman at heart! I have lived for over 50 years in the twin cities of Acarigua and Araure, Portuguesa State (Venezuela). I am a retired CANTV employee, having worked there for 6 years, after dedicating 40 years of uninterrupted service at the Portuguesa branch.

I want to share with you that approximately 30 years ago, I was diagnosed with TYPE 2 DIABETES. As time passed with this condition, I began to experience vision problems, which is why I consulted an ophthalmologist in the city of Acarigua, where I was diagnosed with GLAUCOMA.

Following the diagnosis, I was told I needed treatment in Caracas to manage my eye pressure in both eyes, aiming to reduce it and prevent damage to the optic nerve. This involved laser therapy and daily use of prostaglandin eye drops. However, some time after I began this treatment, a routine checkup revealed that I needed cataract surgery, but only on my left eye. Unfortunately, my right eye already had advanced glaucoma, so they focused solely on the left eye. Part of theprocedure involved implanting an intraocular lens in the treated eye.

Over time, and progressively, I lost vision in my right eye until it was completely gone, just as predicted. Throughout this period, I was treated with themedication Avastin, which consisted of several intravitreal injections (inside the eye).

This year, 2026, specifically on March 8th, I began experiencing blurred vision; I could barely see anything (it was very blurry). Immediately, we went to a specialist (a retina specialist) for an examination and the necessary tests (an ocular ultrasound) on my remaining eye (left eye). I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, requiring urgent surgical intervention to prevent total vision loss in

my left eye, as well as the pre- and post-operative expenses.

For this reason, at this time, I am addressing all my family, friends, colleagues and kind-hearted people through this fundraising campaign to reach the expected goal which is to be able to have surgery (VITRECTOMY VIA PARS PLANA + LASER ENDOPHOTOCOGULATION LEFT EYE) and thus be able to continue with my normal life and be able to continue seeing in the years I have

left alongside all my family and friends.

I was moved to take this action because, unfortunately, we are currently facing a dire economic and social situation in Venezuela. As a result, I do not have the necessary resources to cover this operation. My pension is insufficient to cover this cost, which is why I am appealing with great faith to the solidarity of everyone who knows me and to those who, even without knowing me, wish to lend a hand.
