Soy Mauricio y a los 27 años, siento que tengo todo por delante.

Mi vida cambió drásticamente hace tres años, cuando un accidente me dejó inválido pero desde ese momento, he estado luchando por recuperar mi vida y mis sueños.

Mi pasión por la música, el fútbol, el amor de mi familia pero sobre todo mi fe en Dios, me ha mantenido vivo y con esperanza.

Estoy decidido a seguir adelante y a no dejar que mi condición me defina. Quiero ponerme de pie y seguir bailando al ritmo de la alegría, recuperar mi trabajo, casarme, tener hijos y formar una familia, quiero vivir mi vida al máximo y cumplir mis sueños.

Aunque el camino ha sido difícil, no he dejado de luchar. Y ahora, tengo la oportunidad de someterme a un procedimiento quirúrgico llamado estimulación epidural, el cual podría devolverme la movilidad. Es un tratamiento que consiste en implantar dos dispositivos en la médula espinal para que envíe corriente eléctrica, ayudando a recuperar funciones motoras y a restablecer la conexión entre el cerebro y las extremidades.

Esta operación, más que una intervención médica, es una oportunidad para retomar esa vida, me siento listo para enfrentar este desafío y seguir adelante con determinación y fe.

I’m Mauricio, and I’m 27 years old. I feel like I have everything ahead of me.

My life changed drastically three years ago when an accident left me disabled. But since that moment, I have been fighting to reclaim my life and pursue my dreams.

My passion for music and soccer, the love of my family, and, most of all, my trust in God have kept me alive and hopeful.

I am determined to move forward and not let my condition define me. I want to stand up and keep dancing to the rhythm of joy, get my job back, get married, have children, and start a family. I want to live my life to the fullest and make my dreams come true.

Although the road has been difficult, I have never stopped fighting. Now, I have the opportunity to undergo a surgical procedure called epidural stimulation, which could restore my mobility. It is a treatment that consists of implanting two devices in the spinal cord to send electric current, helping to recover motor functions and restore the connection between the brain and the limbs.

This operation is more than just a medical intervention; it is a chance to reclaim my life. I feel ready to face this challenge and move forward with determination and faith.
