¡Hola! Me llamo Roberto y soy un cantante de ópera mexicano. He estudiado música desde niño. La música me ha llevado por caminos que nunca esperaría. Desde haber estudiado en una de las universidades más importantes de Latinoamérica, hasta el otro lado del mundo, donde pude graduarme de la licenciatura en canto en la Universidad de Chengdú en China. Ahora, fui aceptado en el programa de maestría en Opera Performance en la Hochschule der Künste Bern en Suiza. Este es un programa de alto rendimiento en donde jóvenes cantantes se especializan con grandes artistas del medio en el mundo de la ópera (coachings, audiciones, conciertos, prácticas en teatros de verdad con cantantes profesionales).

He trabajado por años para poder llegar hasta este punto. Estudié en China con una beca completa, aprendí idiomas, enfrenté barreras lingüísticas, culturales y económicas, pero nunca me detuve. Después de haber cursado el primer semestre en este programa, me doy cuenta de que es un programa que me beneficiaría mucho como profesionista. Como siempre, mi familia me ha apoyado tanto como puede y hasta donde sus recursos económicos han sido posibles. Sin embargo, estos recursos no son infinitos. Una gran ayuda fue la beca que mi escuela me otorgó el primer semestre. Lamentablemente, por falta de recursos en la escuela (a pesar de haber tenido un buen desempeño en la escuela), no es posible mantener esta beca que cubría la colegiatura.

¿Por qué necesito la ayuda?

A pesar de haber mostrado compromiso y buenos resultados, la escuela me informó que no podría ser renovada mi beca este semestre. Como todavía no puedo trabajar legalmente en Suiza (hasta septiembre), no tengo medios para cubrir mis gastos inmediatos.

Ahora necesito tu ayuda para cubrir mi colegiatura y gastos básicos por los próximos tres meses mientras regularizo mi situación laboral.

Con tu apoyo no solo me permitirá continuar con mis estudios, sino que también estarás respaldando el sueño de un artista mexicano que busca abrirse camino en el mundo de la ópera internacional.

Mi objetivo es poder compartir esta experiencia con otros, colaborar con jóvenes compositores y músicos mexicanos que, así como yo, buscan un nombre en la escena internacional. Esto también permite crear puentes culturales entre México, Suiza y el mundo.

Ninguna cantidad es pequeña, pues representa un paso más para no abandonar este sueño por el que he luchado a lo largo de estos años. Una gota de agua no parece gran cosa por sí sola, pero junto con más gotas se hacen océanos.

Hello! My name is Roberto and I’m a Mexican opera singer.

I’ve been studying music since I was a child. Music has taken me through very unexpected paths. From studying in one of the most important universities in Latin America, to crossing to the other side of the world, where I was able to complete my singing studies at Chengdu University in China. At present, I have been accepted into the Opera Performance master’s program at the Hochschule der Künste Bern in Switzerland. This is a high-performance program where young singers specialize with great artists in the opera world (coaching, auditions, concerts, internships in actual theaters with professional singers).

I’ve worked for a year to get to this point. I studied in China with a full scholarship, learned languages, faced linguistic, cultural, and economic barriers, but I never stopped. After finishing the first semester in the program, I realize it will highly benefit me as a professional. Of course, my family has been supporting me as much as they can and as far as their financial resources allow them to. However, these resources are limited. A huge aid was a scholarship that my school granted me for the first semester. Unfortunately, because of a shortage of funding (and despite having a good performance at school), it is not possible to keep the scholarship, which covered tuition expenses.

¿Why do I need your help?

Despite having shown commitment and good results, the school informed me that the scholarship will not be renewed this semester. Since I cannot legally work in Switzerland (until September), I don’t have the means to cover immediate expenses.

Now I need your help to cover tuition and basic living expenses for the next three months while I sort out my employment status.

My goal is to be able to share this experience with others by collaborating with young Mexican composers and musicians who, just like me, are looking to make a name for themselves on the international scene. This will also allow me to create cultural ties between Mexico, Switzerland, and the rest of the World.
