Hola, somos la familia de Camila, una niña de apenas 13 años, originaria de San Cristóbal, Venezuela, que hoy está enfrentando una batalla muy delicada: salvar su vista.

Desde pequeña, Camila ha tenido problemas visuales graves. A los 3 años fue diagnosticada con astigmatismo miópico magno y ha usado lentes desde entonces. En los últimos años comenzó a ver borroso, y tras varios estudios se le detectaron desgarros en la retina de ambos ojos, por lo que fue sometida a múltiples tratamientos con láser y a reposo absoluto.

Sin embargo, en abril de este año todo empeoró: empezó a ver doble, con fuertes dolores de cabeza, y actualmente ya casi no puede ver con su ojo derecho. La evaluación más reciente confirmó un desprendimiento de retina que afecta la mácula, lo que significa que está perdiendo la visión central de forma acelerada. Cada día cuenta.

Diagnóstico médico:

Desprendimiento de retina regmatógeno (ojo derecho)

Desprendimiento de vítreo posterior

Miopía magna

Riesgo de pérdida total de la visión si no se opera pronto

Tratamiento necesario:

Una cirugía de retina urgente, que incluye exoplante, vitrectomía, láser y gas intraocular, bajo anestesia general.

El médico ha sido claro: la operación debe hacerse lo antes posible para preservar su capacidad visual.

️ Urgent help to save Camila's vision — she's only 13

Hello, we are the family of Camila, a sweet and strong 13-year-old girl from San Cristóbal, Venezuela, who is facing a very serious challenge: saving her sight.

Camila has suffered from severe vision problems since she was little. At the age of 3, she was diagnosed with high myopic astigmatism and has worn glasses ever since. In recent years, her vision started to get blurry, and several medical evaluations revealed retinal tears in both eyes, requiring multiple laser treatments and strict bed rest.

Sadly, things got worse in April of this year: she began seeing double and experiencing severe headaches, and now she can barely see out of her right eye. Her most recent medical exam confirmed a retinal detachment affecting the macula — the central part of her vision — and it's progressing fast. Every day matters.

Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (right eye)

Posterior vitreous detachment

High myopia

Risk of total vision loss without urgent surgery

Required Treatment:

An urgent retinal surgery that includes scleral buckle, vitrectomy, intraocular laser, and gas, under general anesthesia.
