Ayuda urgente para Isolmar y el pequeño Leo

Hola a todos,

Hoy les escribimos con el corazón en un puño por nuestra querida Isolmar: esa amiga de risas contagiosas, hija valiente, hermana cómplice, tía orgullosa… y hace apenas dos días, mamá inigualable del pequeño Leonardo. Hoy les pedimos ayuda para que ella y su bebé puedan salir adelante en una situación crítica e inesperada.

Isolmar emigró hace siete años a Chile desde Venezuela en busca de un futuro mejor, como muchos de nosotros. Con la fuerza y energía que la caracterizan, luchó lejos de su familia y sus amigos para construirse una nueva vida. Hace dos días, tras dar a luz por cesárea a su precioso bebé Leo, la tragedia tocó nuestra puerta: Isolmar sufrió un accidente cerebrovascular hemorrágico que la dejó en la UCI en estado muy grave.

Apenas doce horas después del parto, los médicos identificaron hemoventrículo e hidrocefalia aguda y la ingresaron de urgencia. Su situación muy grave requirió neurocirugía y gracias a la rápida intervención del equipo médico pudo superar la operación. Aunque ahora empieza a recuperar parcialmente la conciencia, su pronóstico es reservado y desconocemos las secuelas definitivas. Sabemos que nos enfrentamos a un camino de rehabilitación largo y complejo (fisioterapia, logopedia, cuidados neurológicos y asistencia continua) que puede prolongarse muchos meses.

Mientras tanto, Leonardo necesita todo el cariño y la atención de su madre en estos primeros meses de vida. Y su papá, trabajando para costear los gastos, no puede cubrir él solo la doble responsabilidad de cuidar a su pareja en la UCI y hacerse cargo del bebé. Los recursos materiales (alimentación especial, pañales, fórmulas, utensilios de lactancia) y el apoyo humano para cuidar a Leo son también imprescindibles.

Su familia en Venezuela está haciendo todo lo posible por viajar y estar a su lado, pero la situación política y los trámites hacen que no sepamos si podrán llegar o cuándo lo harán. Igual sucede con sus amistades: somos muchos amigos que la adoran repartidos por el mundo, con el corazón roto al no poder estar con ella ayudándola directamente. Mientras tanto, los costes de insumos y materiales de cuidado, tanto para Isolmar en rehabilitación como para el recién nacido, no dejan de subir.

Por eso, te pedimos tu ayuda: cada donación, por pequeña que sea, hará posible que Isolmar pueda acceder a la atención médica que necesita y recursos de rehabilitación, para que su recuperación sea la mejor posible. Y que Leo esté protegido y cuidado mientras su mamá lucha por recuperarse.

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts on behalf of our dear friend Isolmar: the one whose laughter lights up every room, a courageous daughter, a loving sister, a proud aunt… and, just two days ago, the doting new mom to baby Leonardo. Right now, she and her little boy face an unimaginable crisis, and we need your help.

Isolmar left Venezuela seven years ago and moved to Chile in search of a better future, like so many of us. With her characteristic strength and energy, she built a new life far from her loved ones. But just hours after giving birth to her beautiful baby Leo via C-section, tragedy struck: Isolmar suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and was rushed into the ICU in critical condition.

Only twelve hours after delivery, doctors detected intraventricular hemorrhage and acute hydrocephalus. She had to undergo emergency neurosurgery. Thanks to the swift intervention of the medical team, she made it through the operation. She’s now starting to slowly regain consciousness, but her condition remains serious, and we still don’t know what long-term effects may remain. We’re looking at a long and difficult road ahead — including physical therapy, speech therapy, and ongoing neurological care that could last for many months.

In the meantime, baby Leonardo needs his mother’s love and presence during these crucial first months of life. His father, while working to support the household, cannot do it all alone — caring for his partner in the ICU and raising a newborn at the same time. They urgently need support for baby essentials — special formula, diapers, feeding supplies — and the help of extra hands to care for Leo.

Her family in Venezuela is doing everything they can to travel and be by her side, but given the political and logistical obstacles, it’s unclear if or when they’ll make it. The same goes for her many friends around the world — those of us who love her deeply and wish we could be there, heartbroken that we can’t help in person. Meanwhile, the costs of medical supplies, care, and recovery continue to rise — both for Isolmar’s recovery and for Leo’s day-to-day needs.

That’s why we’re asking for your support. Every donation — no matter how small — will make it possible for Isolmar to access the specialized care she needs, and ensure Leo is safe and cared for while his mom fights to recover.
