Estoy ayudando a crear esta recaudación para Diana, de La Casita de Diana, porque Estrellita, una gata que ha luchado toda su vida, está pasando por una situación crítica y necesita ayuda urgente para poder seguir adelante.
Estrellita fue encontrada recién nacida en la calle, aún con el cordón umbilical. No había rastro de su madre. Diana la sacó adelante alimentándola con jeringas y biberones, dándole calor con un guante tibio para imitar el cuerpo de una gata adulta. Contra todo pronóstico, sobrevivió.
A los seis meses enfermó gravemente de un hongo que la dejó completamente sin pelo. También superó aquello. Durante años ha sido una gata fuerte y cariñosa, sin problemas importantes, hasta que hace poco empezó a tener episodios que parecían ataques epilépticos. De un momento a otro se quedó sin visión. Diana la llevó de urgencia al veterinario, creyendo que se trataba de un problema neurológico, pero los resultados revelaron algo mucho más serio.
Las pruebas mostraron que Estrellita solo tiene un riñón funcional, y ese riñón está fallando. Tiene una obstrucción completa del uréter izquierdo causada por un urolito, lo que ha provocado una dilatación extrema del riñón y daño interno severo. El derecho, por desgracia, ya no funciona. La acumulación de presión por el fallo renal le provocó hipertensión, convulsiones y el desprendimiento de retina que terminó dejándola ciega.
Los veterinarios han sido claros: la única posibilidad de que Estrellita sobreviva es una cirugía urgente y la colocación de un dispositivo SUB, un catéter subcutáneo que permitirá drenar la orina desde el riñón a la vejiga para evitar que el daño avance.
Los costes de hospitalización, pruebas, medicación y la propia cirugía son muy altos y, en este momento, imposibles de asumir sin ayuda. Estrellita ya venció al abandono, al frío, al hambre y a enfermedades que podrían haber acabado con su vida. Sería devastador no poder darle esta última oportunidad.
Por eso se ha creado esta recaudación. Cualquier aportación ayudará a cubrir su hospitalización, la intervención quirúrgica y el dispositivo que necesita para poder vivir. Si no puedes donar, compartir esta campaña también es una forma de ayudar.

URGENT HELP FOR ESTRELLITA
I am helping create this fundraiser for Diana, from La Casita de Diana, because Estrellita — a cat who has been fighting for her life since the day she was born — is now facing a critical situation and urgently needs help to keep going.
Estrellita was found as a newborn on the street, still with her umbilical cord attached. There was no sign of her mother. Diana raised her by hand, feeding her with syringes and tiny bottles, keeping her warm with a heated glove to imitate the presence of an adult cat. Against all odds, she survived.
At six months old she became seriously ill with a fungal infection that left her completely hairless. She recovered from that as well. For years she has been a strong, affectionate cat without major health problems, until recently, when she began having episodes that looked like seizures. Suddenly she lost her vision. Diana rushed her to the vet, thinking it might be a neurological issue, but the tests revealed something much more serious.
The results showed that Estrellita has only one functional kidney, and that kidney is failing. She has a complete obstruction of the left ureter caused by a urinary stone, which has led to severe dilation of the kidney and significant internal damage. The right kidney, unfortunately, no longer functions. The pressure build-up from kidney failure caused high blood pressure, convulsions, and a retinal detachment that left her blind.
The veterinarians have been clear: Estrellita’s only chance of survival is urgent surgery and the placement of a SUB device, a subcutaneous catheter that allows urine to drain from the kidney to the bladder so the damage does not continue.
The costs of hospitalization, diagnostic tests, medication, and the surgery itself are very high and impossible to cover without help at this moment. Estrellita has already survived abandonment, cold, hunger, and illnesses that could have taken her life. It would be heartbreaking not to give her this last chance.
