Te pido que leas la historia de mi hijo Ander, porque es la batalla de un niño increíblemente valiente que necesita urgentemente nuestra ayuda. Ander tiene solo 13 años y su vida ha cambiado drásticamente en los últimos años debido a una devastadora enfermedad llamada Adrenoleucodistrofia (ALD).

Todo comenzó en 2021, cuando Ander tenía solo 9 años. De repente, empezó a mostrar comportamientos extraños: dejó de aprender y de concentrarse; en primera instancia fue diagnosticado con Déficit de Atención (ADHD). Un año después, nos dijeron que era autismo, pero algo en mí me decía que no era toda la verdad. Ander seguía retrocediendo, su rostro cambiaba, su piel perdía color, y finalmente, comenzó a perder el cabello.

Desesperada, acudí a tres psiquiatras, dos neurólogos, cuatro dermatólogos y un endocrinólogo, pero nadie tenía respuestas. En julio de 2024, Ander sufrió su primera convulsión, y un mes después, otra. Fue entonces cuando, tras varios estudios, recibimos el diagnóstico que cambió nuestras vidas: Adrenoleucodistrofia (ALD), una enfermedad degenerativa que destruye la vaina de mielina en el cerebro. Desde entonces, Ander ha perdido muchas de sus funciones vitales.

Los doctores han indicado que Ander no es candidato para un trasplante de médula ósea puesto que tiene más del 15% de daño en sus funciones. Sin embargo, tenemos una esperanza en un tratamiento de células madre en Cali, Colombia, de la mano del Dr. Carlos Rojas, un especialista en medicina regenerativa. Este tratamiento podría fortalecer su sistema inmunológico, ya que también sufre de insuficiencia suprarrenal. El costo aproximado del tratamiento es de 13,000 dólares, y necesitamos tu ayuda para darle a Ander esta oportunidad de mejorar su calidad de vida.

Ander era un niño lleno de alegría, inteligente y siempre activo. Hoy, verlo luchar con esta enfermedad me destroza el alma. I ask you to read my son Ander's story, because it is the battle of an incredibly brave child who urgently needs our help. Ander is only 13 years-old and his life has changed dramatically in recent years due to a devastating disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

It all started in 2021, when Ander was only 9 years-old. Suddenly, he started showing strange behaviors: he stopped learning and concentrating; he was first diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). A year later, we were told it was autism, but something in me told me that wasn't the whole truth. Ander kept regressing, his face changed, his skin lost color, and finally he started losing his hair.

Desperate, I went to three psychiatrists, two neurologists, four dermatologists, and an endocrinologist, but no one had answers. In July 2024, Ander suffered his first seizure, and a month later, another one. It was then that, after several studies, we received the diagnosis that changed our lives: Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a degenerative disease that destroys the myelin sheath in the brain. Since then, Ander has lost many of his vital functions.

Doctors have indicated that Ander is not a candidate for a bone marrow transplant since he has more than 15% damage to his functions. However, we have hope in a stem cell treatment in

Cali, Colombia, by Dr. Carlos Rojas, a specialist in regenerative medicine. This treatment could strengthen his immune system, since he also suffers from adrenal insufficiency.
