El lunes, 21 de mayo, fui con mi papá a su médico primario. El motivo de la visita fue para exigirle al doctor que le hiciera una endoscopia a mi padre mas antes, de la fecha que estabamos esperando. Varios viajes más tarde a emergencia, varias consultas con diferentes especialistas, y fue este día cuando dejamos el consultorio de su médico al cual nos llamó de inmediato para realizar otras pruebas. Otro análisis de sangre y con otra tomografía, él doctor viene a decirnos las palabras que nunca olvidaré, "Lo siento mucho pero tu papá tiene un tumor localizado en su páncreas", en ese momento no escuche nada mas y inmediatamente nos remitió a un oncólogo quirúrgico que vimos días después.
Desde entonces, ha sido una montaña de emociones, citas, doctores, analgésicos, lágrimas, y oraciones. Él ha estado sufriendo en silencio con lo que parecían ser problemas estomacales, pero resulta que el tumor era canceroso, por lo que a mi padre le diagnosticaron con cáncer de páncreas.
Mi padre, un hombre joven, tímido pero amoroso, que ha estado saludable prácticamente toda su vida ahora tiene que enfrentar la vida con cáncer. Somos fieles a Dios y al milagro de la oración, agradecemos a nuestra familia y amigos por el apoyo incondicional y el amor que nos han brindado hasta ahora. Mi padre pronto comenzará la quimioterapia con la esperanza de que sea efectiva para extirpar quirúrgicamente este tumor de su cuerpo. Ver a mi familia luchar a través de sus finanzas en un momento como este me parte el corazón. Como cualquiera puede imaginar los gastos médicos y el tratamiento son demasiado caros y esta será una batalla que agotará hasta el último recurso que tiene nuestra familia.
Si conoces a mi padre y a mi familia, únete a nosotros en esta pelea. El está haciendo todo lo posible para mantener una mentalidad positiva en un momento en que su vida se ha cambiando completamente. Si tienen los medios para donar, sepa que cada dólar se gastará en tratamientos médicos y le ayudará con los ingresos que a perdido al no poder trabajar, y también sabrá que le agradeceremos por siempre. Mantengo mi corazón en mi mano a todos ustedes que leyeron esta historia personal. Nuestra familia envía nuestro sincero agradecimiento a todos los que se han tomado su tiempo para apoyarnos desde el diagnóstico y a aquellos que nos seguirán apoyando después. On Monday, May 21st, I went with my dad to his primary care doctor. The reason for the visit was to demand that my father have an endoscopy done sooner, one that he was waiting for in weeks to come. Several trips later to the ER, several consultations with different specialists, and it was this day as we left his doctor’s office that he called us back in immediately to run other tests. Blood work and another CT Scan later, he comes in to tell us the words I will never forget, “I’m so sorry but your father has a tumor located in his pancreas”, everything else was a blur and he immediately referred us to a surgical oncologist that we met days later.
It has been a roller coaster of appointments, doctors, pain medications, tears, prayers and emotions ever since. He has been silently suffering in pain with what seemed to be ongoing stomach issues but it turns out that the tumor was in fact cancerous, so my father was then diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.
My father a young, shy but loving man, one who has been healthy practically his entire life now has to face life living with cancer. We are faithful to God and the miracle of prayer, we are thankful for our family and friends for the unconditional support and love they have given us thus far. My father will soon be starting chemotherapy with hopes that it is effective in order to surgically remove this tumor from his body. Seeing my family battle through their finances in a time like this is heart breaking. As anyone can imagine medical expenses and treatment are far too expensive and this will be a battle that will exhaust every last resource our family has.
If you know my father and/or my family, please join us in this fight. He is trying his hardest to keep a positive mentality in a time where his life has been turned completely upside down. If you have the means to donate please know that every dollar will be spent on medical treatments and help with the loss of his income, and also know that we will forever be grateful to you.
