With heavy hearts, we are reaching out to ask for support for Mayelin Candelario (Vargas) and her beautiful family during this incredibly difficult time.

Mayelin is 38 years old, a loving mother of five children, and a woman completely devoted to our Lord Jesus Christ, whom she has faithfully served with all her heart.

For months, Mayelin struggled with persistent stomach pain that doctors believed was caused by an ulcer. Despite multiple medical visits and testing, no biopsy revealed the true cause. Earlier this year, after another examination, doctors discovered that Mayelin has advanced Stage 4 cancer that has spread throughout her body.

As if this battle were not enough, her 5-month-old baby is also hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Her baby has undergone chemotherapy, open-heart surgery, and still faces additional surgeries to reconstruct some of his heart valves.

Mother and son are in the same hospital and even while fighting for her own life, Mayelin continues to spend every moment she can by her baby’s side in the NICU.

Her children are:

• Esther Leon (10 years old)

• Sarah Candelario (4 years old)

• Samuel Candelario (3 years old)

• Elias Candelario (1½ years old)

• Isaías Candelario (5 months old)

Her husband, Eduardo Candelario, has remained faithfully at the hospital with Mayelin and their baby. Meanwhile, family members and their church community have lovingly stepped in to care for the four children at home.

We are praying for a miracle. However, doctors have shared that Mayelin’s condition is worsening, and they are focusing on keeping her comfortable and surrounded by her loved ones during this time.
