Hello, my name is Manuel Salazar, and today I am writing with the utmost sensitivity to ask for support in one of the most difficult moments of my life. Since November 2024, my mother has faced a hard fight for her health, marked by two hospital admissions due to low oxygen saturations. This situation has hit us hard emotionally, and also financially, as I have borne the brunt of the care and expenses.

The main health challenge we face is respiratory impairment caused by excess weight that we are working hard to control. However, as that process progresses, my mother needs permanent supplemental oxygen to keep her stable. For months, renting and refilling tanks was a constant expense, but recently, with much effort, we were able to acquire an oxygen concentrator valued at $924.

Unfortunately, that was only the first step. We now need to perform a specialized sleep study (valued at $500) to detect if he suffers from sleep apnea, and based on that, determine if he needs a CPAP or BPAP machine. Either of these devices will have an additional cost that will also fall on our family.

In addition, my mother requires complex surgery to treat retention cysts in the maxillary sinuses, along with a deviated nasal septum that includes a bone spur. This operation is essential to improve her breathing and quality of life, and like all of the above, represents yet another expense that we have to deal with.

For all of this, we have set a goal of $6,000 in this campaign. Each dollar will go directly to cover studies, treatments, medications, medical equipment and surgeries necessary for my mother to regain her health.

She has been the only strong figure in my life. She raised me and my sister alone, who migrated abroad in search of a better life. My father was not a present figure, and therefore, much of what I am and all that I have achieved has been thanks to the strength, sacrifice and unconditional love of my mother. Today, more than ever, I want her to feel that she is not alone and that all her effort has its reward.

Hola, mi nombre es Manuel Salazar hijo de Rosa Elena Salazar Lemus, y hoy escribo con la mayor sensibilidad para pedir apoyo en uno de los momentos más difíciles de mi vida. Desde noviembre de 2024, mi madre ha enfrentado una dura lucha por su salud, marcada por dos ingresos hospitalarios debido a bajas saturaciones de oxígeno. Esta situación nos ha golpeado con fuerza emocionalmente, y también económicamente, ya que soy quien ha asumido la mayor parte del cuidado y los gastos.

Lamentablemente, ese fue solo el primer paso. Ahora necesitamos realizarle un estudio de sueño especializado (valorado en 500 dólares) para detectar si sufre apnea del sueño, y con base en eso, determinar si necesita un equipo CPAP o BPAP. Cualquiera de estos equipos tendrá un costo adicional que también recaerá en nuestra familia.

Además, mi madre requiere una cirugía compleja para tratar quistes de retención en los senos maxilares, junto con una desviación del tabique nasal que incluye un espolón óseo. Esta operación es esencial para mejorar su respiración y su calidad de vida, y como todo lo anterior, representa un gasto más que debemos afrontar.

Por todo esto, hemos establecido una meta de 6,000 dólares en esta campaña. Cada dólar se destinará directamente a cubrir estudios, tratamientos, medicamentos, equipo médico y cirugías necesarias para que mi madre pueda recuperar su salud.

Ella ha sido la única figura fuerte en mi vida. Nos crio sola a mí y a mi hermana, quien migró al extranjero en busca de una vida mejor. Mi padre no fue una figura presente, y por eso, gran parte de lo que soy y todo lo que he logrado ha sido gracias a la fuerza, el sacrificio y el amor incondicional de mi madre. Hoy, más que nunca, quiero que sienta que no está sola y que todo su esfuerzo tiene su recompensa.
