Hello, my name is Gabriela Victoria Cáceres Córdova.

I am 8 months old and I am a twin baby. I was born in February 2025, full of life, together with my little sister. We are two little miracles who arrived bringing light to our family.

When I was almost 2 months old, my skin and eyes began turning very yellow, and my stools became pale. My parents were very worried and took me to get some tests done. The results showed that something was not right with my liver.

After several studies, the doctors discovered that I had a blockage in my bile ducts, a serious condition that prevents my liver from functioning properly.

I had to be put under general anesthesia for the first time for an MRI and, after confirming the diagnosis, I was rushed into emergency surgery.

I underwent a procedure called Kasai, which creates an alternative pathway for bile to drain and helps protect the liver. Thank God, this procedure allowed my bile to drain and helped prolong my liver function.

However, as the months passed, my skin turned yellow again, my test results showed new complications, and the pale stools came back. This means that my liver has continued to deteriorate and it can no longer recover on its own.

Today, I need a liver transplant to continue growing, to play with my sister, and to live a life full of dreams and laughter.

My parents are doing everything they can, but the medical expenses, evaluations, medications, travel, and preparation for the transplant are very high.

Unfortunately, in my home country of El Salvador, there are no hospitals that perform pediatric liver transplants, so I must travel to another country to receive this chance at life.

My mom will be my living donor and travel with me.

My dad and my twin sister will have to stay behind, waiting for us to return healthy and strong.

The medical expenses for the transplant, studies, hospitalization, medications, travel, and the long stay required… exceed $100,000 USD, an amount impossible for my family to cover on their own.

That is why today we ask you:

Hola, soy Gabriela Victoria Cáceres Córdova, tengo 8 meses de edad y soy una bebé gemela. Nací en febrero del 2025 llena de vida junto a mi hermanita. Somos dos milagritos que llegamos llenas de luz a nuestra familia.

Cuando tenía casi 2 meses, mi piel y mis ojitos comenzaron a ponerse muy amarillos, y mis heces se volvieron blanquecinas. Mis papás se preocuparon mucho y me llevaron a hacerme exámenes. Los resultados indicaban que algo no estaba bien con mi hígado.

Tras varios estudios, los doctores descubrieron que tenía una obstrucción en mis vías biliares, una condición grave que no permitía que mi hígado funcionara correctamente. Me tuvieron que dormir con anestesia general por primera vez para una resonancia magnética y, al confirmarse el diagnóstico de la obstrucción fui operada de emergencia.

Me hicieron un procedimiento llamado Kasai, que consiste en crear una vía alternativa para drenar la bilis y así proteger mi hígado. Gracias a Dios ese procedimiento que permitió drenarme la bilis y prolongar el funcionamiento de mi hígado.

Sin embargo, con el paso de los meses, mi piel volvió a ponerse amarilla, mis exámenes se alteraron nuevamente y las heces blanquecinas regresaron. Eso significa que mi hígado ha seguido deteriorándose y ya no puede recuperarse por sí solo.

Hoy, NECESITO UN TRANSPLANTE DE HÍGADO para poder seguir creciendo, jugar con mi hermanita y vivir una vida llena de sueños y risas.

Mis papás están haciendo todo lo posible, pero los gastos médicos, las evaluaciones, los medicamentos, el traslado y la preparación para el trasplante son muy altos.

Lamentablemente, en mi país El Salvador no existe ningún hospital que realice trasplantes de hígado pediátricos, por lo que debo viajar a otro país para poder recibir esta oportunidad de vida.

Mi mamá será mi donadora de una parte de su hígado y viajará conmigo.

Mi papá y mi hermanita tendrán que quedarse aquí esperando nuestro regreso sanas y fuertes.

Los gastos médicos del trasplante, los estudios, la hospitalización, los medicamentos, el traslado y la estadía por varios meses…ascienden a más de $100,000 USD, una cifra imposible de cubrir solo con los recursos de mi familia.

Por eso hoy les pedimos:
