Etapa 4 Cancer de colon y higado diagnosticado en Septiembre 15, 2018.
Stage 4 Colon cancer and metastasis to the liver diagnosed September 15, 2018.
Hi! My name is Arely Lopez I am a 38 yr old single mother. On September 15, 2018 I went to the hospital for a pain on my right side thinking it was nothing or maybe just my gallbladder or appendix. They did a scan and told me they saw a mass and it looked like cancer so they did an endoscopy and colonoscopy, took a biopsy and my worst fear came true. I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with metastasis to the liver. I underwent colon resection surgery and they removed a softball size tumor but were unable to touch the liver due to the many lesions it had. What was going to be a 1 week stay at the hospital turned out to be 3 months due to many infections that I developed and chemotherapy was unable to begin due to the complications.
Finally I leave the hospital and in January 2019 I began the chemo treatments. I am uninsured due to my situation however I did receive emergency Medicaid that covered a big part of my hospital bills and for that I am truly grateful, but I need the treatments and with the assistance of an outreach center I was able to get help with the most expensive drug but I am still left having to pay $536.00 every 2 weeks for the chemo treatments (I need 12 treatments and 2 pet scans and medications and the doctors visits) I have received 4 treatments and I have no funds to continue.
I have not been able to return to work due to other complications and the pain that I am in. So I am asking if you could in anyway help out so that I can be able to pay to receive these treatments so that I may have a chance to continue living as I love life and I want to fight this monster named “cancer”. If you are not able I truly understand as I know life is hard and we are all struggling to make ends meet. I appreciate the time you took to read this and I hope for you and your family the best in this world. I will keep everyone updated on the outcome of my treatments. May God bless each and every one of you!
