Ayuda a Waleska

Hola, mi nombre es Claudia Cretarolo, y estoy realizando esta recaudación de fondos en nombre de mi primita Waleska Dávila, paciente oncológico de 9 años de edad, que ha sido diagnosticada el día 28 de julio con Leucemia Promielocítica Aguda.

Es un tipo de cáncer en la sangre que comienza en la médula ósea, en donde se forman las células sanguíneas. Un gen en dichas células ha mutado y modifica lo que tienen que hacer; son glóbulos blancos inmaduros que se acumulan en la médula ósea descontrolando la producción sanguínea. Con el tiempo, las células inmaduras no siguen su ciclo y se acumulan, restando capacidad de creación de las otras células que la sangre necesita, como glóbulos blancos sanos glóbulos rojos y plaquetas, disminuyendo su cantidad.

Es aguda porque las células sanguíneas anormales e inmaduras no pueden cumplir sus funciones, el gen continúa creándolas muy rápido y por lo tanto la enfermedad empeora con rapidez, llevando a la niña a necesitar un tratamiento agresivo.

Waleska ha ingresado por urgencias el mes de julio en el hospital con petequias (puntitos rojos en la piel), hematomas (morados) sin causa ninguna, sangrado en las encías y pesando 21 kg. Al realizarle sus primeros estudios tenía la hemoglobina en 7 y las plaquetas en 27mil, las cuales descendieron a a 5.5, y 18mil respectivamente, siendo los valores normales sobre 13 a 16 gramos por decilitro, y las plaquetas de 150mil a 400mil microlitros, por lo que se trataba de una anemia severa en un principio. Le realizaron dos transfusiones de sangre y de plaquetas en los primeros días, y costaba mucho subirle los valore, por lo que se solicitó un aspirado y biopsia de médula ósea para descartar Leucemia.

Luego del aspirado de médula ósea se ha determinado que del 89% de células estudiadas en el laboratorio, 80% son células cancerígenas, y a pesar de que está relativamente estable, su situación es muy delicada. El día 3 de agosto comenzó a recibir quimioterapia, el tratamiento consta de los medicamentos ATRA por 60 días e Idarrubicina por 4 días. Hasta ahora ha presentado como efecto secundario flebitis (inflamación en las venas que causa fiebre y coagulación sanguínea), fiebre por el descenso de las plaquetas, mareos y náuseas, continúa pesando 21 kg y ya han cortado su cabello para que no sea impactante para ella ver cómo cae en abundancia producto de los fármacos que le suministran.

La niña vive con sus padres, Walter Dávila y Behsabe Mendoza, y sus hermanitas Victoria, de 15 años y Widny, de 4 años, en Caracas, Venezuela, en la urbanización 23 de Enero, pero actualmente está recluida en el Hospital Clínico Universitario de Caracas, en la planta nueve, habitación 52.

El cáncer es una enfermedad de alto riesgo, que conlleva demasiados gastos, requiere medicamentos de alto costo, exámenes inter diarios (algunos de ellos de alto costo), insumos médicos, una alimentación muy rigurosa, necesita pijamitas, sábanas, cobijas, detergentes y jabones especiales, estar en un espacio libre de contaminación, y sus padres cuentan con escasos recursos, es por eso que recurrimos a este medio para solicitar de su ayuda.

Hasta ahora los medicamentos los ha cubierto el hospital, pero cada cosita con los elevados precios que hay en Venezuela, en relación al salario, va consumiendo lo que tienen sus padres, y desde que todo comenzó, su madre se ha dedicado a ella 24/7 sin poder trabajar. Espero con el apoyo de todo aquel que quiera colaborarnos, podamos a contribuir a que puedan cubrir lo que Waleska vaya necesitando.

Los fondos los recibiré yo en mi cuenta bancaria en España y serán enviados a sus padres en su totalidad para todo lo que esta dulce princesa requiera a través de un locutorio de la localidad de Valencia en el que pueda realizar la transferencia bancaria vía Western Union.

Hello, my name is Claudia Cretarolo, and I am doing this fundraising on behalf of my little cousin Waleska Davila, a 9 year old cancer patient, who has been diagnosed on July 28th with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.

It is a type of blood cancer that begins in the bone marrow, where blood cells are formed. A gene has mutated and it modifies what blood cells are supposed to do; they are immature white blood cells that accumulate in the bone marrow, causing blood production to go out of control. Over time, the immature cells do not follow their cycle and accumulate, reducing the capacity of creating other cells that blood needs, such as healthy white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets, decreasing their quantity.

It is acute because the abnormal and immature blood cells cannot fulfill their functions, the gene continues to create them very quickly and therefore the disease worsens rapidly, leading the girl to need an aggressive treatment.

Waleska was admitted to the hospital in July with petechiae (red spots on the skin), bruises without any physical cause, bleeding gums and weighing 21 kg. When she underwent her first studies, her hemoglobin was around 7 and platelets around 27,000, which dropped to 5.5 and 18,000 respectively, normal values are 13 to 16 grams per deciliter, and platelets from 150,000 to 400,000 microliters, so it was a severe anemia at the beginning. She received two blood and platelet transfusions in the first days, and it was very difficult to raise them back, so a bone marrow biopsy and aspiration were requested to rule out leukemia.

After the bone marrow aspiration it was determined that out of the 89% of the amount of cells studied in the laboratory, 80% were cancer cells, and although she is relatively stable, her situation is very delicate. On August 3rd she began to receive chemotherapy, the treatment consists of the drugs ATRA for 60 days and Idarrubicin for 4 days. So far she has presented as a side effect Phlebitis (inflammation in her arm veins that causes fever and blood clotting), fever due to the decrease of amount of platelets, dizziness and nausea, she continues to weigh 21 kg and her hair has been cut so it is not that shocking for her to see how it falls out due to the drugs she is given.

The girl lives with her parents, Walter Dávila and Behsabe Mendoza, and her sisters Victoria, 15 years old, and Widny, 4 years old, in Caracas, Venezuela, in the 23 de Enero urbanization, but she is currently at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Caracas, on the ninth floor, room 52.

Cancer is a high risk disease, which entails too many expenses, it requires high cost medicines, examinations (some of them are high cost examinations), medical supplies, a very rigorous diet, she needs pajamas, sheets, blankets, detergents and special soaps, to be in a place free of contamination, and her parents have insufficient resources, that is why we ask for your help.

So far the medicines have been provided by the hospital, but each little thing, with the high prices in Venezuela, in comparison to the salary, is consuming all they have, and since everything started, her mother has been dedicated to her 24/7 without being able to work. I hope with the support of everyone who wants to collaborate with us, we can contribute to what Waleska needs.

I will receive the funds in my bank account in Spain and it will be sent to her parents through international money transfer services in Valencia, where I will make the bank transfer via Western Union.
