La Historia de Pamela: Una Guerrera

Mi hermana Pamela, de 29 años, sufrió un infarto cerebral masivo en el hemisferio derecho el 27 de mayo de 2024.

Pamela nació con una discapacidad intelectual llamada agenesia del cuerpo calloso, tiene una edad mental de 5 añitos a pesar de su edad cronológica. A pesar de sus desafíos, Pamela ha vivido una vida medianamente funcional: caminaba, nadaba (su actividad favorita), se bañaba y vestía sola. Siempre ha sido la luz de nuestras vidas, siempre sonriente, bailadora y mamá de sus muñecas y ositos de peluche.

El Evento que Cambió Todo

El 27 de mayo, nuestra vida dio un vuelco cuando Pamela sufrió un infarto cerebral. Inexplicablemente, dado que siempre ha sido muy sana.

Pamela pasó las primeras dos noches en un hospital privado, agotando todos los ahorros de mis padres debido a los altos costos. Al tercer día, logramos transferirla a un hospital público donde pasó 25 días en terapia intensiva y un mes en terapia media.

Pamela ha sido una verdadera guerrera, enfrentándose a múltiples desafíos, como neumonía e infecciones, y superando todas las predicciones médicas.

El Camino por Delante

Pronto Pamela será dada de alta del hospital y podrá regresar a casa. Sin embargo, esto marca el inicio de una nueva fase en su recuperación que requiere de numerosos recursos y adaptaciones:

Equipos de hospital: Necesitamos adquirir equipos esenciales para su cuidado en casa. (stairlift, grúa de pacientes, monitor de signos vitales) - 78,000 mxn

Modificaciones estructurales: La casa y auto necesitan ser adaptados para satisfacer sus nuevas necesidades. (Cambios estructurales en casa, cambio de auto a camioneta con rampa) 300,000 mxn

Terapia de rehabilitación: Terapias continuas para ayudarla a recuperar sus funciones motoras y cognitivas. 15,000 mxn mensuales

Enfermeras : Cuidados especializados . 16,800 mxn mensuales

Medicinas e insumos: Pañales, medicinas, jeringas, etc. 12,000 mxn

Para todo esto, necesitamos recaudar al menos 850,000 pesos mexicanos. Esta suma nos permitirá proporcionar a Pamela el entorno y los cuidados que necesita para continuar su increíble lucha por un año.

Pamela's Story: A Warrior

My sister Pamela, 29, suffered a massive stroke in the right hemisphere of her brain on May 27, 2024.

Pamela was born with an intellectual disability called agenesis of the corpus callosum, which gives her a mental age of 5 despite being 29.

Despite her challenges, Pamela has lived a moderately functional life: she walked, swam (her favorite activity), bathed, and dressed herself. She has always been the light of our lives, always smiling, dancing, and being a mother to her dolls and teddy bears.

The Event That Changed Everything

On May 27, our lives were turned upside down when Pamela suffered a stroke. Inexplicably, given that she has always been very healthy, Pamelita spent the first two nights in a private hospital, exhausting all my parents' savings due to the high costs. On the third day, we managed to transfer her to a public hospital where she spent 25 days in intensive care and a month in intermediate care.

Pamela has been a true warrior, facing multiple challenges such as pneumonia and infections, and surpassing all medical predictions.

The Road Ahead

Soon, Pamela will be discharged from the hospital and will be able to return home. However, this marks the beginning of a new phase in her recovery that requires numerous resources and adaptations:

Hospital Equipment: Essential equipment needed for her home care (stairlift, patient hoist, vital signs monitor) - €4,150

Structural Modifications: The house and car need to be adapted to meet her new needs (home structural changes, changing car to a van with a ramp) - €15,900

Rehabilitation Therapy: Ongoing therapies to help her recover motor and cognitive functions - €795 per month

Nurses: Specialized care - €889 per month

Medicines and Supplies: Diapers, medicines, syringes, etc. - €636
