Hola, soy Maricela Leyva, esposa de Oscar Rodríguez Lío y madre de dos maravillosos hijos. Hoy levanto la voz por mi esposo y por nuestra familia, porque estamos frente a la batalla más difícil y necesitamos de tu ayuda para superarla.

Oscar ahora está por enfrentar el mayor desafío de su vida: necesita un trasplante bipulmonar.

Su batalla comenzó hace más de 25 años. Desde 1997, Oscar ha enfrentado el diagnóstico de una artritis reumatoide que, entre 2004 y 2011, derivó en severas enfermades respiratorias, incluyendo múltiples neumonías. Finalmente, en 2011 recibió un diagnóstico desolador: fibrosis pulmonar secundaria a artritis reumatoide.

A pesar de ello, Oscar nunca ha dejado de sonreír. Con una fe inquebrantable, un espíritu positivo y la medicina de su lado, ha podido desarrollar tanto su vida profesional como personal. Sin embargo, durante el último año, el deterioro de su salud se ha hecho evidente a través del desarrollo de una hipertensión pulmonar.

El hombre que solía disfrutar cada momento junto a sus hijos, que a pesar de las limitaciones vivía con entusiasmo, hoy depende por completo de oxígeno suplementario.

Quienes han tenido la suerte de conocer a Oscar saben que es mucho más que un esposo amoroso y un padre dedicado: es un hombre sabio, inteligente y profundamente humano que, a pesar de todas las adversidades, nos ha enseñado una lección de vida: que incluso en la dificultad hay espacio para la risa, la serenidad, el optimismo y la esperanza.

Oscar también ha tenido la bendición de trabajar por más de 28 años en una organización profundamente humana que no solamente ha sido la fuente de su empleo, sino que en los últimos dos años adaptó su espacio laboral para hacerlo inclusivo, aun para personas con condiciones de salud como la suya. Gracias a ello, Oscar pudo seguir aportando su profesionalismo, su sentido del humor y esa resiliencia que siempre lo han caracterizado. Hoy, Oscar ha decidido poner un alto en su camino laboral para enfocarse en los tratamientos y procedimientos médicos que lo van acercando cada vez más al transplante. La muestra más clara de la huella que ha dejado en su entorno es el muy sincero apoyo que hemos empezado a recibir, reflejo del cariño y admiración que inspira en quienes lo conocen.

Porque no existe un párrafo, ni un escrito, ni mil páginas que puedan abarcar lo que Oscar ha significado en nuestras vidas y lo que aún puede seguir siendo. Como su esposa, puedo decir que no solo ha sido mi compañero de vida, sino la guía, la fuerza y la alegría de nuestra familia. Su sabiduría, su risa y su manera de enfrentar la adversidad han marcado a todos los que lo conocen.

Hello, my name is Maricela Leyva, wife of Oscar Rodríguez Lío and mother of two wonderful children. Today I raise my voice for my husband and for our family, because we are facing the most difficult battle of our lives, and we need your help to overcome it.

Oscar is now facing the greatest challenge of his life: he needs a double lung transplant.

His battle began more than 25 years ago. The man who once enjoyed every moment with his children, who lived with enthusiasm despite his limitations, now depends entirely on supplemental oxygen.

Those who have had the privilege of knowing Oscar know that he is much more than a loving husband and a devoted father: he is a wise, intelligent, and deeply human man who, despite all adversity, has taught us a life lesson: that even in hardship there is room for laughter, serenity, optimism, and hope.

Oscar has also had the blessing of working for more than 28 years in a profoundly humane organization that has not only been the source of his livelihood, but that in the last two years adapted his workspace to make it inclusive, even for people with health conditions like his. Thanks to this, Oscar was able to continue contributing his professionalism, his sense of humor, and that resilience that has always defined him.

Today, Oscar has decided to pause his professional path to focus on the treatments and medical procedures that bring him closer each day to the transplant. The clearest proof of the impact he has left on those around him is the sincere support we have already begun to receive, a reflection of the affection and admiration he inspires in everyone who knows him.

There are no words, no letters, not even a thousand pages that could encompass what Oscar has meant in our lives and all that he can still continue to be. As his wife, I can say that he has not only been my life partner, but also the guide, the strength, and the joy of our family. His wisdom, his laughter, and his way of facing adversity have left a mark on everyone who knows him.
