A mi mamá Tibisay Marrufo, de 65 años, le diagnosticaron mieloma múltiple; un tipo de cáncer en la sangre que daña los huesos, afecta los riñones y debilita las defensas del cuerpo. En palabras sencillas, el mieloma múltiple hace que la médula ósea deje de producir células sanas y se llene de células malas que ocupan espacio y destruyen poco a poco el cuerpo. Esto provoca dolor intenso, cansancio extremo y una lucha diaria por mantenerse de pie.
El tratamiento es largo, duro y sobre todo muy costoso: quimioterapia, medicamentos especializados e insumos. Cada sesión es una esperanza, pero también un reto económico enorme para nuestra familia ya que ella se encuentra en Venezuela. Por eso hoy levanto la voz con humildad y fe: necesitamos de tu apoyo. Cada aporte, por pequeño que parezca, es de gran ayuda. Mami es abuela de 6 y bisabuela de una niña que aun no conoce, es su gran anhelo en estos momentos, mami es una mujer de fe, entregada al servicio y ayuda de quienes la conocen, con tu ayuda es un ladrillo más en el puente que nos acerca a la vida, a la esperanza y a más tiempo juntos. My mom, Tibisay Marrufo, 65 years old, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma—a type of blood cancer that damages the bones, affects the kidneys, and weakens the immune system. In simple words, multiple myeloma makes the bone marrow stop producing healthy cells and instead fill up with bad cells that slowly take over the body. This causes severe pain, extreme fatigue, and a daily struggle just to keep standing. The treatment is long, tough, and most of all very expensive: chemotherapy, specialized medicines, and medical supplies. Each session brings hope—but also a huge financial challenge for our family, especially since she lives in Venezuela. That’s why today, with faith and humility, I raise my voice: we need your support.
