Mi mamá es una señora de 76 años de edad, mujer honrada, esposa, madre y abuela, que dedico su vida como Educadora/docente por más de 30 años, quién hoy atraviesa una condición patológica que compromete su salud general y pone en riesgo de perder su pierna si no se atiende de manera oportuna.
La historia de mi madre comienza en el 2006, con dolencias en la rodilla, fue ahí donde le hicieron el diagnostico de osteoartrosis, por lo cual fue referida a un traumatólogo, el cual encontró en su evaluación medica que tenia un desgaste muy avanzado de los meniscos de la rodilla.
En el 2007, se planificó la operación para colocarle una prótesis y hacer tratamiento de su condición, pero esa operación no tuvo un resultado favorable y los dolores y el deterioro de la rodilla continuaban, por lo cual en el 2010 tuvo que ser intervenida nuevamente para retirar la prótesis y colocar una nueva. La segunda prótesis con la cual estuvo varios años tampoco estuvo libre de complicaciones, ella seguía presentando molestias, dolores y perdida de la funcionalidad de su articulación, por lo cual entre ese tiempo fue intervenida varias veces para retirar adherencias y realizar limpiezas quirúrgicas. La segunda prótesis duró hasta el año 2016, donde el médico tratante retiró la prótesis y la cambió por una tercera prótesis diferente, que le permitiera tener una mejor articulación y tratar de mejorar la calidad de vida de mi madre, que venia ya con una larga historia de dolores e intervenciones.
Pero ese no fue el final de las intervenciones ni del sufrimiento de mi madre, quién después de esa ultima intervención con una tercera prótesis trato de hacer su recuperación, sus terapias y todo lo que estuviese a su alcance para recuperarse, pero ella nunca dejo de sentir molestias ni dolores, ni mucho menos volvió a tener la funcionalidad de su articulación.
Los dolores continuaron desde ese momento para permanecer constantemente, pero no fue hasta la actualidad (2020) donde ella notó un aumento en la intensidad de sus dolores y cambios de coloración en la rodilla por lo cual acudió nuevamente a la ayuda médica, donde entre los hallazgos de exámenes y evaluación medica diagnosticaron una infección en la articulación rodilla y prótesis, con una formación de granuloma, debido a la severidad de la condición, éste año se le han realizado dos drenajes quirúrgicos para intentar frenar y aliviar la infección, pero el médico sugirió que la prótesis se debía retirar lo antes posible y realizar una nueva intervención llamada ''Artrodesis Femorotibial'', para poder retirar la prótesis y combatir la infección correctamente ya que actualmente es el problema principal y de urgencia, por lo cual necesitamos recaudar los fondos lo más pronto posible.
La Artrodesis Femorotibial: consiste en la intervención quirúrgica de la articulación y hueso afectado que se realiza en dos fases. Una primera fase de limpieza quirúrgica exhaustiva, en la cual se toma cultivo para identificar el agente causal de la infección y colocar el antibiótico adecuado, que incluye el retiro de la prótesis actual que está ocasionando la infección y revisión de la rodilla contaminada, para luego colocar un espaciador que contiene antibioticos que permanecerán por un tiempo hasta erradicar la infección. Y una segunda fase que cosiste en retirar el espaciador para colocar un sistema de placas llamadas LCP-DCP para finalizar la artordesis o union de la articulación y evitar daños irreversibles y radicales como la perdida de su extremidad o amputación.
Actualmente mi familia y yo hemos agotado nuestros recursos personales a lo largo de todo el proceso y no contamos con los fondos necesarios para cubrir los gastos de la operación, por lo cual en nombre de mi madre y mis hermanos me veo en la situación de acudir a la ayuda de cualquier persona o institución benéfica que nos pueda tender la mano en este momento de dificultad.

My mother's story begins in 2006, with knee ailments, it was there that she was diagnosed with osteoarthrosis, for which she was referred to a traumatologist, who found in her medical evaluation that she had very advanced wear of the menisci of the knee.
In 2007, the operation was planned to place a prosthesis and treat her condition, but this operation did not have a favorable results and the pain and deterioration of the knee continued, so in 2010 she had to be operated on again to remove the prosthesis and insert it on her a new prosthesis. The second prosthesis with which she was several years was not free of complications, because she continued to present discomfort, pain, and loss of the functionality of her joint, for which between that time she was operated on several times to remove adhesions and perform surgical cleanings. The second prosthesis lasted until 2016 when the treating doctor removed the prosthesis and changed it for a different third prosthesis, which would allow her to have a better joint and try to improve the quality of life of my mother, who already had a long history of pain and interventions.
But that was not the end of the interventions nor of the suffering of my mother, who after that last intervention with a third prosthesis tried to make her recovery, her therapies, and everything in her power to recover, but she never stopped recovering. She feels discomfort or pain, and do not have the functionality of her joint.
The pains continued from that moment to remain constant, but it was not until today (2020) where she noticed an increase in the intensity of her pain and color changes in her knee, for which she went to medical help again, where the findings of examinations and medical evaluation diagnosed an infection in the knee and prosthesis joint, with a granuloma formation, due to the severity of the condition, this year two surgical drains have been performed to try to stop and relieve the infection, but the doctor suggested that the prosthesis should be removed as soon as possible and a new intervention called ''Femorotibial arthrodesis'' should be performed, in order to be able to remove the prosthesis and fight the infection correctly since it is currently the main and urgent, so we need to raise the funds as soon as possible.
The Femorotibial Arthrodesis: consists of the surgical intervention of the affected joint and bone that is carried out in two phases. A first phase of exhaustive surgical cleaning, in which a culture is taken to identify the causative agent of the infection and place the appropriate antibiotic, which includes the removal of the current prosthesis that is causing the infection and revision of the contaminated knee, for later place a spacer containing antibiotics that will remain for a while until the infection is eradicated. And a second phase that consists of removing the spacer to place a system of plates called LCP-DCP to finalize the arthordesis or union of the joint and avoid irreversible and radical damage such as the loss of the limb or amputation.
Currently my family and I have exhausted our personal resources throughout this long process andwe do not have the necessary funds to cover the expenses of the surgery, for which reason on behalf of my mother, my siblings and I are in the situation of going to the help of any person or charitable institution that can reach out to us at this time of difficulty.
