Queridos familiares y amigos,
Queridos familiares y amigos,
Dear Family and Friends,
In mid-April, our incredible and warrior mother, María Eugenia Bigott, was admitted to the clinic for an emergency because she had a lot of abdominal pain and was vomiting blood . From that moment, she began this long and agonizing process. The doctors informed us that there was an obstruction in the gallbladder which was causing jaundice, and in addition, the bleeding was due to a very strong upper digestive hemorrhage (hemobilia).
The day after she entered the clinic, the doctor did a surgery on her to relieve the obstruction she had, and that was causing high levels of bilirubin and therefore jaundice. In order to alleviate the pain, they placed a prosthesis in the bile ducts in the form of a bridge to drain everything that accumulated there.
She was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, with a scarred liver. The exhausting path of treatments are about to begin. However, this will be a difficult path and she will need spiritual and financial help to face this process and cover medical expenses, a large part of which have already been generated by the two weeks she has been in the clinic. We are faced with the financial trouble that so often comes with these types of illnesses: loss of income and exorbitant new expenses.
We are three siblings, all outside of Venezuela each struggling to get ahead as immigrants. In addition to this, it is impossible for us to leave due to passport problems, which makes the situation harder for us, in every way. The distance creates a lot of helplessness, anguish and pain of not being able to hug and accompany our mother in a situation like this.
At this time, it is impossible for us three to pay for the costs of the clinic, medicines, treatments and everything that this disease brings us, which brings us here. We know that with the help and unwavering support of our incredible family and friends, we will be able to give her all the tools possible so that she can fight this disease.
We maintain a positive mentality and an immense and unshakable faith in God, with the hope of getting ahead facing this great challenge.
We greatly appreciate all the kindness and good wishes from everyone, and the affection and unconditional love that you have always shown our mom. It is the starting point, and it is proving to be invaluable. We, her children, express our immense gratitude for every prayer, help or donation, of any amount, it will always be appreciated.
Just for reading this, we are already grateful, and we will keep you informed of the progress and achievements.
