Ayuda a Laura y a su familia despues de un accidente de auto

¡Conocer a la familia Velez es amar a la familia Velez! Por favor, lea la historia de su hija menor Laura mejor conocida como “Laly”, a continuación y ayude de cualquier manera que pueda para que puedan continuar centrándose en su viaje de curación y rehabilitación por delante.

El dia Noviembre 1, después de pasar el día con amigos, disfrutando de un divertido concierto, Laly con solo 16 años de edad, sufrio de un accidente de vehículo en la que sufrió una lesión cerebral traumática. Sigue estando en la UCI de Memorial Regional en Hollywood. Su familia se ha mantenido fielmente a su lado, manteniendo la vigilia, rezando por su recuperación y manejando las visitas de sus muchos amigos, que están realmente devastados por su lesión y casi la pérdida de vidas, todo mientras intentan entender la complejidad médica de sus lesiones y procesan la realidad de este evento.

No hay palabras lo suficientemente grandes como para describir la montaña rusa emocional en la que ha estado esta familia desde el accidente. Desde la primera noche en que se enteraron de el accidente y de el daño causado, continuaban escuchando que la perspectiva era sombría con muy poca esperanza de cualquier tipo de recuperación, hasta esperar a que pasara la hinchazón máxima de su cerebro y ver si sería capaz de sobrevivir. . A medida que la hinchazón continuaba, se les dijo que no había otras opciones que explorar, no quedaba nada por hacer más que esperar y rezar.

A medida que pasaba el período máximo de hinchazón cerebral, ¡sobrevivió y ah comenzado a mejorar poco a poco. Estábamos presenciando lo que solo puede ser descrito como un milagro por algunos, inesperado por otros pero MARAVILLOSO por todos.

Laly tiene un largo e impredecible camino por delante para su recuperación. Ha hecho grandes progresos para respirar por su cuenta, neurológicamente está mejorando y continúa impresionando a la comunidad médica con su joven cerebro y cuerpo, luchando por recuperarse con toda su familia a su lado. Nos gustaría quitar parte de la carga financiera de esta familia, para ayudar con sus necesidades médicas en curso que aún no se han determinado, pero como se acerca ya casi 20 dias en la UCI y se proyecta ahora para incluir rehabilitación, es fácil razonar que el costo será astronómico.

They say It takes a village to raise a child. The Velez are a part of my village. To know the Velez Family is to love the Velez Family! Please read their youngest daughter Laura, also known as “Laly”’s story below and help in any way you can so they can continue to focus on his healing and rehabilitation journey ahead.

On November 1st, after spending the day with friends, Laly at only 16 years of age had an accidental fall from a vehicle where she sustained a traumatic brain injury. She continues to be in the ICU at Memorial Regional Hospital. Her family has faithfully stayed by her side, keeping vigil, praying for her recovery and managing the visits from her many friends, who are truly devastated by her injury and near loss of life, all while trying to understand the medical complexity of her injuries and processing the reality of this event.

There are not words big enough to describe the emotional roller coaster this family has been on since the accident. From the initial night when they learned she most likely would not survive her injuries and as they continued to hear that the outlook was grim with very little hope for any type of recovery, to waiting for the peak swelling of her brain to pass and see if she would be able to survive it. As the swelling continued, they were told there were no other options to explore, nothing left to do but wait and pray.

As the peak brain swelling period passed, she survived and then began to improve! We were witnessing what can only be described as a miracle by some, unexpected by others but WONDERFUL by all.

Laly has a long, unpredictable road ahead of her for her recovery. She has made great strides to breathe on her own, neurologically she is improving and continuing to wow the medical community with her young amazing brain and body, fighting to recover. We would like to take some of the financial burden off of this family, to help with her ongoing medical needs which are yet to be determined but as she is approaching one month in the ICU and projected now to include rehabilitation, it is easy to reason the cost will be astronomical.

In my opinion, this outpouring is simply a testament to what a wonderful family this is and how many people they have touched in our community and just how loved and important they are to us all.
