Help Kenia Luna to fundraise for her flute.
My name is Kenia Luna, I started playing the flute in 2009 when I joined the “Ensamble Allegro” in Atlixco, where I’m from. During my participation in the ensemble I played symphonic band repertoire, but I also prepared an audition for the Orquesta Sinfónica Infantil y Juvenil de México (OSIM). I was also a part of the Orquesta de Cámara de Atlixco where I received classes from Professor Diego Carneiro. I have also received instruction from Professor Guillermo Marín of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas when I was invited to the Esperanza Azteca orchestras’ program. In 2014 I began my formal studies of flute in the Escuela de Artes of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. I finished my 3 years which are called “técnico en música” and this year I started my bachelor’s in music (orchestral instrument: flute) in the Facultad de Artes of BUAP with professor Ernesto Cabrera. Recently, I won the platinum medal in the Kiwanis International Music Festival in Canada, and I will represent Mexico in the Provincial competition.
My talent and dedication have gotten me a 100% scholarship so I can have flute private lessons with professor Alhelí Pimienta, creator of the “Flute Sprint International Studio”.
Now that I am a couple of levels away of being able to take a test and become a certified teacher by the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) I am in need of acquiring a flute that responds to the needs of the musical level that I have.
A semiprofessional or professional instrument represents a great difference for a musician. A new flute would facilitate aspects such as skills and agility, development of the sound and use of the “extended techniques” for the exploration of the modern era repertoire.
Since I do not have many resources, acquiring even the instrument that I own, has represented an effort for me and my family; now with the support that I could receive to get a new flute I will have the same opportunities as other young flutists have to participate in competitions, receive master classes and prepare myself to share that knowledge and skills that I get, because that is my goal, to become a professional musician to be able to teach young kids in my small town who also want to become professional musicians and to play chamber music specially in places where that art is not accessible.
During the coming months I will be studying in the scholarship program in which I’m also committed to give a total of 40 hours of community service, so I will be teaching kids and youth of low resources, giving feedback to other young flutists and offering concerts for free.
I will finish the fundraiser by July 1st, once the goal of getting my instrument is reached, I will offer a concert in gratitude for the ones who are able to support me.

Ayuda a Kenia Luna a recaudar fondos para su flauta transversal.
Mi nombre es Kenia Luna, mi primer contacto con la flauta transversal fue en 2009 cuando me integré al Ensamble Allegro de Atlixco, de donde soy originaria. Durante mi participación en el ensamble toqué repertorio de banda sinfónica, aunque también me preparé para audiciones para la Orquesta Sinfónica Infantil y Juvenil de México (OSIM), formé parte de la Orquesta de Cámara de Atlixco con la que recibí clases de parte del maestro Diego Carneiro. También he recibido instrucción del maestro Guillermo Marín de la Youth Orchestra of the Americas como invitada en el programa de orquestas Esperanza Azteca. En 2014 inicié mis estudios formales de flauta transversal en la Escuela de Artes de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Terminé de estudiar el nivel técnico y este año inicié mi licenciatura en música (instrumento orquestal: flauta transversal) en la ahora Facultad de Artes de la BUAP con el maestro Ernesto Cabrera. Recientemente gané la medalla de platino en el Kiwanis International Music Festival y representaré a México en la competencia Provincial.
Gracias a mi talento he recibido una beca al 100% para tener clases privadas de flauta con la maestra Alhelí Pimienta, creadora del “Flute Sprint International Studio”.
Ahora que estoy a un par de niveles de poder presentar un examen para ser profesora certificada por el RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) me veo en la necesidad de adquirir una flauta que responda a las necesidades del nivel musical que yo tengo.
Un instrumento de nivel semiprofesional o profesional representa una gran diferencia para un músico. Una nueva flauta facilitaría aspectos como agilidad y destreza, desarrollo de sonoridad y uso de “técnicas extendidas” para la exploración del repertorio contemporáneo.
Ya que no cuento con muchos recursos, adquirir incluso el instrumento con el que cuento ha representado un esfuerzo para mí y para mi familia; y ahora con la ayuda que pueda recibir para una flauta nueva podré tener las mismas oportunidades que otros jóvenes flautistas tienen de participar en concursos, tener clases magistrales y prepararme para transmitir ese conocimiento y habilidades que logre, ya que esa es mi meta, ser músico profesional para poder enseñar a jóvenes en mi municipio que también quieran alcanzar un nivel profesional en la música y para hacer música de cámara sobre todo en lugares donde este arte no es accesible.
Durante los siguientes meses estaré estudiando en el programa de beca con el que también estoy comprometida a prestar un total de 40 horas de servicio social, así que estaré enseñando a niños y jóvenes de bajos recursos, dando asesorías a jóvenes flautistas y ofreciendo recitales de manera gratuita.
Terminaré la recaudación de fondos el 1 de julio. Una vez alcanzada la meta de comprar mi instrumento, ofreceré un concierto de agradecimiento para los que puedan apoyarme.
