¡Hola! Soy Brenda Ferre y tengo 2 años y medio.
Cuando tenía 3 meses, me diagnosticaron Gastroenteritis Viral, la cual se me complicó mucho ya que por las diarreas tan continuas que me daban me deshidrate y a las horas empecé con convulsiones parciales, lo que provocó que mi cerebro empezara a inflamarse.
Me hospitalizaron en una clínica del seguro social y me realizaron una punción lumbar de la cuál no tuve resultados ya que se contaminó de sangre, y que complicó la inflamación de mi cerebro, resultando en un edema cerebral de tercer grado. (mi cerebro estaba tan inflamado, que salía de las fontanelas de mi cabeza)
Al siguiente día me trasladaron al Hospital “La Raza” a la cual llegue en un estado muy grave y me entubaron al llegar, después de ello, los médicos notaron que no dejaba de convulsionar, por lo que me indujeron al coma barbitúrico/inducido.
Cuando los Neurólogos me revisaron, notaron que sólo pasaba una cantidad de oxígeno muy pequeña hacia mi cerebro, estando a punto de tener muerte cerebral, por lo que me trasladaron a terapia intensiva.
El diagnóstico del cuál a las siguientes semanas me dieron de alta, fue una encefalitis e hipoxia cerebral (o sea que partes de mi cerebro están infartadas, sin flujo de sangre) y aún no conocíamos las secuelas que tendría posterior a la falta de movilidad y las horas extensas de convulsiones, mi familia y amigos siempre estuvieron allí apoyándome, los llaman mis papás mis ángeles ya que, todo el amor y soporte que nos brindaron en este difícil proceso, hizo que tuviera fuerzas para salir a delante poco a poco.
7 meses después tuve la oportunidad de entrar a un CRIT de Fundación Teletón, en el cuál me diagnosticaron Parálisis Cerebral y Visión Baja y en este centro de rehabilitación tomo mis terapias todas las semanas y voy logrando realizar y aprender cosas nuevas.
Mis papás trabajan y se esfuerzan por brindarme las terapias y aparatos necesarios para poder avanzar y cumplir las metas que me ponen en mis terapias y ahorita estoy en el proceso de aprender a caminar, tengo una displasia leve que debo corregir para reducir el riesgo de que esta incremente y que termine en operación de cadera, es por ello que debo de utilizar un aparato que se llama bipedestador y en mi caso este debe ser dual, (Bipedestador prono y supino) el cual cumple todas las funciones que necesito para poder hacer tono muscular y comenzar a caminar.
Tu ayuda es un paso más para que pueda caminar. Muchas gracias y que Dios los bendiga.

Hi, my name is Brenda Ferre and I’m 2 and a half years old.
When I was 3 months old, I was diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis, which got complicated because I got dehydrated from the continuous diarrheas and started having seizures. My brain got swollen due to the seizures. I was hospitalized in a social security clinic and i got a lumbar puncture done, which the results were invalid as it got contaminated with blood. The lumbar puncture made my brain swell even more making me have a third degree brain edema. My brain was so swollen that was protruding out of my fontanelles (skull).
The next day I got moved to a public hospital “La Raza” in which I arrived in a serious condition and I got intubated as soon as I got there. After I got intubated, I was having continued seizures, therefore, the doctors put me into a an induced comma. When the neurologists checked me out, they noted that a small amount of oxygen was getting to my brain. I almost had brain death, therefore, they moved me to intensive care. After 1 month of being hospitalized and 15 days in the ICU, they released me with a encephalitis and cerebral hypoxia diagnosis. At that time we didn’t know the consequences I would have in the long run due to everything I went through. My family and friends where always by my side and supporting me. Thanks to the love and support I received from my parents, family, friend and my guardian angels, I had an inexplicable strength to move on little by little.
After 7 months of my trauma, I had the great opportunity to start therapies at a CRIT part of Fundación Teletón, in which I was diagnosed with brain paralysis and low vision. Here I have rehab therapies every week and I am able to do and learn new things.
My parents work and they make a great effort to provide the needed therapies and gadgets and equipment I need. I need these gadgets and equipment in order for me to keep moving forward and meet the goals that my therapist tell me I need. Right now, I am in the process of learning how to walk, but I have a hip displacement that I need to fix in order to reduce the need of a hip surgery. In order to fix my hip displacement, I need a gadget called a dual stander (prone and supine) which I need in order to build muscle and start walking.
With your help, I will be able to get the gadgets that I need for me to be able to walk. Thank you so much and God bless you.
