He aquí la historia de Felipe:

Mi nombre es Felipe y hoy me atrevo a compartir mi historia con ustedes porque necesito ayuda para seguir adelante, no ha sido fácil para mí pedir apoyo, pero en este momento mi salud y mi vida dependen de poder cubrir los gastos de hospitalización que han surgido tras una grave infección y una lesión en la cadera.

Mi vida cambió drásticamente cuando tenía 13 años. Eramos una familia como cualquier otra, mis padres y mis 4 hermanos, sin embargo, en un viaje familiar tuvimos un accidente automovilístico en el que fallecieron mis papás y mi hermano mayor. De un momento a otro, mi mundo se derrumbó. Mis hermanos y yo quedamos huérfanos siendo todavía unos niños. Durante algún tiempo un tío y su familia nos acogieron, sin embargo, él falleció y quedamos nuevamente sin el sostén de una familia.

Desde el año pasado mi salud se vio deteriorada gravemente. Unas ulceras en la zona sacra y en las piernas se complicaron severamente provocando una infección grave causada por una bacteria poco común hasta llevarme al hospital por un diagnóstico de shock séptico. Y además, se me hizo una fisura en el hueso de la cadera.

Hoy llevo más de siete semanas hospitalizado. Los médicos y especialistas han estado realizando múltiples procedimientos quirúrgicos para limpiar las heridas, controlar la infección y evitar que el daño continúe avanzando. Tras numerosos análisis y estudios radiológicos, me informaron que será necesario realizar otra cirugía para remover parte del hueso de la cadera ya que la infección ha llegado hasta allí.

Por todo lo anterior, el tratamiento ha sido y sigue siendo largo, doloroso y muy costoso. Mi hermana menor y yo nos cuidamos mutuamente, y en estos momentos ella ha tenido que renunciar a su vida laboral y profesional por mis cuidados en el hospital 24/7.

Durante toda mi vida he tratado de salir adelante con esfuerzo, estudio y trabajo, enfrentando cada dificultad sin rendirme. Hoy me encuentro en una situación donde necesito ayuda para poder seguir luchando. Por eso recurro a ti porque necesito apoyo para cubrir los gastos hospitalarios y continuar con mi recuperación. Cualquier ayuda marcará una enorme diferencia.

A pesar de todo lo que he vivido sigo creyendo en la solidaridad y en la bondad de las personas. Mi mayor deseo es recuperarme, volver a mi hogar, seguir trabajando.

Here is Felipe’s story:

My name is Felipe, and today I find the courage to share my story because I need help to keep moving forward. It has never been easy for me to ask for support, but right now my health—and my life—depend on being able to cover the medical expenses resulting from a severe infection and a serious hip injury.

My life changed drastically when I was 13 years old. We were an ordinary family—my parents and my four siblings—but during a family trip, we were involved in a car accident that took the lives of my parents and my older brother. In an instant, my world collapsed. My siblings and I were left orphaned at a very young age. For a time, an uncle and his family took us in, but after he passed away, we were once again left without the support of a stable family.

Since last year, my health has declined significantly. I developed severe pressure ulcers in my lower back and legs, which became infected by a rare and aggressive bacteria, leading to septic shock and hospitalization. On top of that, I suffered a fracture in my hip.

I have now been hospitalized for over seven weeks. Doctors and specialists have performed multiple procedures to clean the wounds, control the infection, and prevent further damage. After extensive testing and imaging, they informed me that another surgery will be necessary to remove part of my hip bone, as the infection has spread there.

As a result, my treatment has been long, painful, and very costly. My younger sister and I take care of each other, and during this time she has had to put her career and personal life on hold to stay by my side in the hospital 24/7.

Throughout my life, I have always tried to move forward through hard work, education, and determination, never giving up despite the challenges. Today, I find myself in a position where I need help to continue fighting. That is why I turn to you—to ask for support in covering my medical expenses and continuing my recovery. Any help can make a meaningful difference.

Despite everything I have been through, I still believe in the kindness and generosity of people. My greatest wish is to recover, return home, and continue working.
