Help me pay Fall 2023 Graduate Tuition fees

Donation protected
Hi amazing people,

I am extremely excited to announce that you have exceeded the target of $9,000-- the minimum amount that allows me to register for the Spring. Your generosity, love, and dedication towards my career have paid off as I have registered for classes. You have shown me so much love and dedication, as I continue to pursue graduate studies at a highly reputable American university.

If you're still interested in giving, you can continue to help me complete the payment for the Fall tuition 2023. (I still have a balance of $5,000- the maximum allowed for me to register in the Spring). Total tuition for a semester is $13,261 and additional $902 late fees ($14,163).

I will be able to earn more money in the Spring and much more money in the Summer (when the government and university restrictions are reduced). But additional donations would help me avoid late fees from the university.

Thank you for your support and prayerful consideration.

My Story

Hi, my name is Emmanuel Raymond Mwandama from Malawi in Africa. I am fundraising for my tuition and fees in graduate school. I am a student at Indiana University Southeast (in New Albany), studying for a Masters of Science in Strategic Finance (MSSF) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). I expect to graduate in May 2025.

I traveled from Malawi to enroll at IU Southeast in August 2023, after securing a sponsor who pledged to pay my tuition for the entire program. After the start of the Fall semester, the sponsor withdrew his support, citing lost government contracts and the failure of government agencies to pay what they owed. This left me with no source of funding for my tuition.

While here, I have worked as much as possible to find jobs and use the paycheck to settle my tuition, but I have failed although I am still applying for summer internship programs. The other challenge is that as an international student, there are legal restrictions to work in the USA more than 20 hours per week and also to work outside campus (University) unless I complete one year of enrollment in the University.

But it is not nearly enough to pay for international tuition. I am unable to secure a loan without collateral or a co-signer. And I have been unable to raise other funds through scholarships in such a short time. My mentor, Professor Eric Schansberg (whose family I am staying with), advised me to focus on my studies, to earn good grades so that employers would find me more attractive and so that people would be more likely to support me. (I earned two B's in the first half of the Fall because I was distracted with depression by the news by the sponsor and then two A's in the second half after being advised by Professor Schansberg to stay focused.)

I believe completing my studies will enable me to making a far greater impact on Malawi (one of the poorest countries in the world) since this remains my passion and aspiration. As the first person from my community to graduate with a degree from an American university, I carry hope and am a model for many young people.

I thank you all for generosity in supporting my education.
feel free to contact me or Professor Eric Schansberg.
