Ayla needs you

TLDR: Ayla is my souldog and she has Anemia. I am asking for help to fund the operation and blood transfusions she needs to give the meds time to work so she can start producing blood again. Please help!

The first time I met Ayla was when I picked her up to bring her home. It was just her and one other puppy left and they were snuggling in their basket. They were both so sleepy and no bigger than a guinea pig. The moment I sat down next to them they lifted their heads and looked at me. One just laid back down to sleep but the other crawled up on my lap, gave me kisses and then fell back asleep. It was as if she knew I was there for her! That was the first time I felt chosen. Ever since then she has been by my side.

She comes with me everywhere possible, she is invited to every “girls night” with my friends and any one I date has to pass her vibe test. And every morning I wake up with her next to me.

Ayla is the most loving dog anyone will ever meet, even if her energy while spreading joy and love can be somewhat overwhelming. She is so precious and happy and gentle, won’t even kill spiders if they crawl on her! She has been with me through the worst and best times and I am so thankful for her every second of every day.

Sadly her joy and my efforts could not keep her safe from her own body. In December 2025 she started to stop on walks with her legs in a wide stance and her head low. We saw some rashes on her paws and consulted a Veterinarian and started to treat the rash at home. Inside she was the same as always, eating, jumping, playing, cuddling, but outside the stops got more frequent even when the rash disappeared. So we took her to the vet again.

Ayla has something called PIMA (at least that’s the theory) meaning her white blood cells are killing her red blood cells before they make it into the bloodstream. It is an autoimmune disease and we still don’t know what triggered it. When the vets took her in her red blood cell count was about 7-8%…. The lower threshold for normal is about 35%. Had she had an active bleeding there would not have been any hope of surviving the night.

Since January Ayla has been on medication to weaken her white blood cells so they stop attacking the red ones. So far her insurance has covered it but the road to a diagnosis, blood tests to monitor progress and her four lifesaving blood transfusions have reached the limit of the insurance.

The money I am asking for is to cover an operation and future blood transfusions needed to give the medication time to work. Ayla is just about to turn five, she is young, strong and (otherwise) healthy. This sickness does not cause her pain, she just can’t run around like she wants to and without continuous care she will soon stop running forever and cross the rainbow bridge way too soon. She is a happy girl with a great quality of life and her age, strength and other health makes her a great candidate for the surgery.

I am a student and working part time but my money is not sufficient when the insurance won’t take the bulk sums anymore.

Please, please help me save her and give her the long and happy life all dogs deserve! Please ❤️‍
