Maria's battle against Lymphoma and Malakoplakia

This is a dear friend of mine, Maria. She is the single mother of a twelve-year-old son. Maria is battling an extremely rare and dangerous tumor called malakoplakia. The surgery to remove this tumor is SO extensive and will require the removal of all of her internal organs located in her lower abdomen. She has been dealing with the effects of this tumor since August of last year and has been out of work for many months. The grueling 10-hour surgery will require the expertise of 5 different types of surgeons in the OR working on her simultaneously and is scheduled to take place on August 12th, 2020. The risks associated with this surgery are immense. The recovery will take upwards of a year and will require extensive physical and occupational therapy.
