Hello my name is Axton Foley and I’m 13 years old and am in the 8th grade. I have 3 siblings. Just recently my life changed completely. On February eleventh I was at my home and I hit my head but not very hard, later that night I had fallen asleep on the couch watching a movie with my mom She had also fallen asleep. I had a seizure in the middle of the night, which hasn’t happened before. luckily my mom's service dog knew to wake my Mom up. She didn’t know I had a seizure, she thought I was having a bad dream at first. I do not remember this but my mom had tried to wake me up more then several times but couldn’t. This made her very scared So she had gotten the dogs in the car and she had gotten her coat and boots on. After that she tried to wake me up several more times to get me to the car. She was shaking me, sat me up, shouting even slapped my cheeks. She told me later that I was acting like a drunk person. She thought I was awake because my eyes were open and I was slurring my words and saying random stuff. The whole thing lasted over 30 minutes. All of a sudden, I woke up and asked her why she had her coat and boots on and why the dogs were in the car with it running. She said Axton, I have to take you to the hospital. You’re Not okay, I couldn’t wake you up. I said What are you talking about? I’m fine. I was so confused because I felt fine. Later she told me that I told her that I had weird dreams such as I was a fish flopping around and a bear was shaking me. This was her trying to wake me up. When I woke up completely, she asked me to get up and walk in a straight line from one side of the room to the other. I did it just fine. I was still so confused I kept questioning why she was asking me if I was ok. After a while she told me to go to bed. She watched me closely through the next day and nothing else happened. To this day I don't Remember that night at all. The next morning I woke up feeling fine. We went into town for something and my mom was in a parking lot on a phone call, It was a very long one So I asked her if I could go skate around in the parking lot on my skateboard. It was dark but the parking lot looked dry of snow. I couldn't see and my skateboard slid on black ice I slammed My head against the asphalt. I didn't think anything of it because I hadn't remembered the night before but My mom seemed very worried and wanted me to go to the hospital immediately so we went and got an MRI scan looking for a brain bleed. 20 minutes later the doctors came back they said I had a tumor growing in the right frontal lobe of my brain. We had so many questions but the doctor told us that he couldn't answer any of them until we saw the specialists. They transferred me right away to the PICU for monitoring until surgery could be scheduled. Any thoughts about it would bring me to tears just to think about what if my life were to end. Several days later on September 16th I had a major brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible by Dr Schmidt. She and her team were amazing. It took several hours and They got most of it up and out. They sent it to Mayo Clinic for diagnosis and several long weeks later we finally heard back from the Mayo Clinic. I have been diagnosed with an aggressive atypical meningioma. They said it was a 2.5 but they couldn't diagnose it as that so they are saying it’s a 2 out of 3 (these tumors are only rated 1,2 or 3) and they will be treating it aggressively. During those weeks me and my mom were very nervous, We didn't know what was going to happen and still don’t really. We have just been told we will be traveling to Colorado for my treatment because they can’t do it here. It has been very stressful for us and put a lot of weight on our shoulders. It has been very hard for us and our family. I wanted to share the story of how I got diagnosed with cancer. The day my life changed forever. It’s me Axton Foley, I'm going to tell you a little about me, I love sports: basketball football, wrestling and I love the outdoors. I love riding my bike and doing tricks on the trampoline. But these are all things I cannot do right now. I want to save my money for an electric 3 wheel bicycle so I can still get outside and do the things I love even though I’m tired all the time. I will lose a lot of weight throughout the cancer treatment I will be needing smaller clothes plus there are many other things me and my family need while I go through treatment. I'd be so grateful and thankful if you would donate. My heart would melt if I saw somebody else going through this, it’s really scary. It would really change my life if you could donate. Please help my family if you can.
