Mr. Alpha Chi Omega 2016

Alpha Chi Omega’s national philanthropy is domestic violence awareness, and we are proud to support the Alternatives to Domestic Violence Shelter, the largest shelter of its kind in Riverside County. Domestic violence does not receive the attention it deserves, and we stand strongly behind the idea of women helping women. Victims of domestic violence live in constant fear, for themselves and their children. Abusers use a combination of fear, shame, intimidation and guilt to gain power over their victims, causing them to feel helpless and hopeless. Women and children in crisis come to ADV to end their isolation, find safety and rebuild their personal strength. ADV provides women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their lives with self-esteem and dignity. They serve all women and children in need and with a mission to empower those who are in distress, ADV gives these women and children the tools necessary to rebuild their lives.
 
We are proud to announce our annual signature philanthropy event to benefit the Alternatives to Domestic Violence Shelter the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation – our Mr. AXO Philanthropy on May 12th, 2016 at UC Riverside Student Recreation Center. The most a UCR fraternity or sorority has raised from a philanthropy event is $15,000.  This cause is too important to settle for status quo, and we are looking to raise the bar and set a new standard on campus. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 to help battered women and children get the second chance they deserve.
 
We hope you will consider supporting our work by making a gift to help this worthy organization. Your donation will make a huge impact on the lives of women and children who have survived domestic abuse. With the massive California state budget cuts, DVA is reliant on private supporters to keep these vital programs open for those who need it most. We can’t imagine a more important or worthy organization to focus our energy and attention on.

Please support your favorite organization, or contestant, by donating to their campaing, and helping us seek new heights: $20,000. The money raised helps support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as create awareness for such an important cause.
