Axel’s Recovery
I’d like to start by saying this is so out of
character for myself or Matthew to ask for anything. Our 8 month old German shepherd got out and ran across our busy road. As I ran out to get him he tried running back across the street as an inconsiderate driver failed to even touch
their brakes. He was thrown up in the air and
into our driveway left bleeding from the mouth and unable to move. I am so thankful for the 3
witnesses who stopped and came to help
comfort me as I held Axel. He is now at the vet
hospital in critical condition. So far what we know is there is internal bleeding, he’s received one
blood auto transfusion and also a blood plasma transfusion. They will know later today if he’ll need more blood. He has significant contusions to his entire right side, his nose is detached
from his upper lip, and he is receiving oxygen for support. He will need to spend the next few
nights at the hospital and we are praying to have our sweet boy back home soon to start a very
long recovery. He is only 8 months old and is
our baby girls best friend. They are the same age - one week apart.
We were asked to create this fundraiser for
Axel by some amazingly generous people. We cannot thank you enough for the support and the kindness everyone has shown us during
this traumatic time.
He was hit by a female driver going about 45 mph - who did not slow down, did not stop after plowing an innocent dog, and continued driving with most likely significant damage to her vehicle.
We are heartbroken by this incident. We are forever grateful for the kind people and have so much faith that our little man will pull through ♥️ Thank you so much if you’ve taken the time to read this and really all we ask is that youplease say a prayer for our sweet boy.
